Fun night. Been wondering what you 2 have been up to!
You guys running 2 bikes? Which other one?
So a 048 is better than a 015?? Now I know you been talkin about an 11. And if .048 is better than .015 then 11 ain't happening. On the other hand if Sam had saved that .015 for the 12.31 then my math spelled out 11.98. Pour some of that high octane Apple Pie in the tank then you'll get it!
It wasn't so much a fun night Jerry but it was enjoyable. We went to do a job and we did it, it was the way we did it that was fun.
Our reaction times were some of the best on the night by a long way, my .015 only just shy of Billy's .013. Jerry, the reaction time has nothing to do with making the elapsed time any quicker so an 11 was never on the cards, it just means you have more chance of winning if you pull a good one and your opponent pulls a poor one.
We both rode the Auto, Billy made 3 shake down runs of 12.79, 12.60 and 12.56 then handed the bike over to me.
The bike always runs quicker on it's second and third runs but Bills 3 runs were pretty much in quick succession of one another and when he handed it over to me it was stinking hot.
The air temps were falling and I wanted to get a run in before dark so that I could see where I was going. (not a lover of racing at night). This was when I cut the .015 light and was on course for a good pass but the motor spluttered on the top end which lost me some time. (not sure what caused it)
I let the motor cool right down to more like what I've been used to seeing and pushed the bike up the staging lanes and didn't fire it up until I was next to run. By this time the air had cooled right down and moisture was forming on my visor, I knew that a quick one was on the cards.
The bike pulled a 2.11 60 foot time, some two 10ths quicker than my first 60 and it then picked up time at every increment down the track resulting in a personal best of 12.315 with a terminal speed of 112.59 mph.
So I guess you could say as well as being enjoyable, it was fun.
I'm not sure what I was thinking earlier in the day when I PMed our dial in guru Jon Weeks to be on hand to help with the dial in times as it was only test and tune tonight
anyway Jon, I have all the data collated and will get to you tomorrow.
Looking forward to doing battle for real next week.
Sam.
