I had the privilege to meet Sam and Bill in person a while back; don't know if you've seen this pic, Jonathan?

Thanks for the update Jonathan, all good news.

I would think that fact it was 'only' a raised eyebrow could be put down to the sedatives. ;) ;D ;D

Hi Mark. Sorry but that hadn't even crossed my mind to be honest. I will be phoning the nurse again later today, i will ask the question as i know there are probably a few that would like to see him.

Regards,

Jonathan.

Thanks for the update Jonathon.  8) I rode 750 miles on my 78' CB750K just to see Sam race and got there a day late.  :-[ I arrived on Saturday knowing that there would probably not be much racing by the BentOn team that day, having read the news about Sam here on the forum the night before from the road.

Great to hear that his recovery has begun. Small steps Sammy! Don't overdo it, we'll be here when you get back.

I am sorry that you missed him after traveling all those miles. I know for sure that the main reason he crosses the pond so much is to be with all you guys, i think the racing is a secondary thing for him when he can be in such good company. As you can imagine, thoughts are going through my head about if he should race again and what he will be thinking about it. I am hoping that he will find out about his leathers and think "well im not buying any more of them". One thing i do know, which ever way he decides to go with it, i am sure he will be flying back over the pond to you guys when he has fully recovered, even if it is just to spectate and be there with y'all.

Regards,
Jonathan.

I am sorry that you missed him after traveling all those miles.

No apologies necessary. I would do it again.  8)

Sam only traveled 4000 miles (more than once) to see us!  ;)

Well, it might have been more of an effort to see the Hooter's girls than to see us....  ;D

Bill : Try to get online with  D.R.A.W.  = DRAGRACING ASSOCIATION of WOMEN as these ladies helped out a fellow racer of mine at NATIONAL TRAILS after he crashed and was off work for 6 months with no pay and helped with the hospital bill. They come around at NHRA events and collect donations, me and the crash victim [ PONY-TAIL RICK many times Wednesday night bike champion ] gave them a $50 bill. They are on facebook and the web.

On a real positive note fellas....if any of you were on the fence about a donation, Russ Collins Jr has just posted this to the Sam Green Recovery Fund FaceBook page;

Russ Collins you are just AWESOME!

Please help....and look cool doing so!

Everyone donating at least $25 dollars to the Sam Green recovery fund will receive a t- shirt like the one Sam is wearing below. The fund administrator just needs to send me a name, address, size and color white or black and RC Legacy will send you a shirt.....may take a bit to get to you as I am low on stock but we will be printing again in 3 weeks ....you bigger folks may get lucky...have stock.

When Sam is again hoisting one as below he can tell me to stop. (I'll need proof by photo of course).

Bill: I have new short chrome shocks [ no struts ] and a new soft SHINKO tire 17" or 18" sitting in my basement. Be careful with the ATM AS THE TOTAL COST FOR SHOCKS AND SHINKO was $140 for both brand new. IRON PONY a big-big store here in Columbus ,Ohio sells those SHINKO'S for $61 + tax. Bought the shocks on e-bay $70 plus shipping.  Dixie International here in Columbus had the short shocks but sold out quick = I bought 4 sets and sold 3 sets. Better look at that shock that the 212 mph in 1320' that JT put down here in Columbus bet it cost $400 - $700.

POPS, looking at new rear tire and maybe shorty shocks from CycleX like Calendar Girl has. Seem to work well on it. Then a fork damper, got it, need bracket. Have 18mm left hand PMR brake master cylinder coming. Already have GP style caliper for rear from PMR(Wilwood).Samauto going into the 11's like we planned!  ;D Bill

You can run that high pressure in the rear tire for a small patch on the 1/8 mile race at 80-95 MPH top end, but SAM said he was running 130MPH in the 1/4 mile which is fast for a small patch [ high psi ] hard tire.
I can run 41PSI  in the rear [ WITH SHORT SHOCKS ]  on the TURTLE 400CC A  with a small patch SHINKO soft tire = but my MPH in the 1/4 is only 77MPH and  I NEVER LEAVE THE LINE ON THE INSIDE OF THE LANE = to much stick [ bog ] for this small motor and running down the outside is less traveled at a bike event.
TRICK Pizza John pro-stock Champion racer taught me, put a bobble head doll on your rigid frame pit bike and ride down the track slowly and watch the bumps YOU DO NOT SEE then think I'M going down this lane with solid strut frame [ no shocks ] in them 1990'S days 178 an NOW A DAYS 198 MPH. Did you see that rider bouncing all over that track this past Sunday at NHRA PRO-STOCK BIKE at Chicago at the BIG END !!!!!!

Well......the day has come, discharge day!!! My Dad will eventually be leaving the hospital today and traveling to Atlanta to join Bill for a couple of weeks, depending on what time he leaves the hospital depends on when he arrives in Atlanta, it may be today or even Friday. He will be with Bill for a while just to help recuperate before he travels back to the UK. Please give him some time to settle in before bombarding him with message, it would be nice for him to settle in at Bills and read all that has been typed on here and the SOHC4 forum. He still has a way to go in his recovery but this is a massive step considering where he was only 2 weeks ago.

Thank you to everyone that has helped and been there to support him either by visiting, calling, well wishing and donating. I am sure he will be overwhelmed when he sees all the messages of support.

 Jonathan.
