Guys....I am going to stick with the current configuration and concentrate on the shifting system. The breakdown of the original fiber clutch plates threw material throughout the system (and it was a good amount of material judging by the original piston skirts.
I don't have time to to build a larger engine with more variables. Hell a stroker with my cylinder and 72mm pistons would probably be killer. I have had my CBX engine out of the bike for 2 years and a 750 engine I should have finished 6 months ago......there is a lot on my plate.

Well, we had to try!  ;D I think from what I saw clutch friction material looks like the suspect. We'll wait and see what Mike comes up with. I could bolt up my spare B25! No no, just kidding! Bill

Two race seasons from the friction discs before replacing on my Hondamatic running 11's. I did frequent oil changes just for what you're seeing. I'm still betting on the Hy-vo chain broke. ;)

Now we're getting "the rest of the story". All I knew was that it lost all power around the eighth mile mark. If low gear stopped pulling, you lost the low gear clutch pack. If you tried and didn't have high gear working, Mike has his work cut out for him. I figure that the bike has had about one full season of racing from the last 3 years. I don't know how many launch attempts it got over that time. Usually, the high gear pack goes first. That's one of the things wrong with my drag bike Hondamatic. The shift to high has a little slippage in it. It's only going to get worse. So, I'm putting the new Civic clutch packs into the dragbike Hondamatic. The rat bike I brought to VA had the car clutch packs in it. Here's where I got them from in Sept. 2012.
"We can get these for you separately. The frictions are $1.93  each and the steels are $5.25 each. We will have to drop ship them from the manufacturer, freight should be about $10.00.  If you would like to order them let me know.
Thanks

True. If they go ahead with a parade Mike might be able to go, school's likely cancelled.  ::) Man, they've been hammered.
