Sam Green Racing team member Frank Loney, aka Dragracer,  pulled off the win today in the ET bracket class on the old CB750F. Last pass had a 1.49, 60' time and backed off the throttle to take the win on a double breakout final with a 6.73 on a 6.75 dial. Yes, i was sandbagging a bit to begin with but i pushed my opponent and good friend Cedric Mingo out the back door due to a better reaction time on my part. Unfortunately for me, the rest of my Sam Green Racing team mates had already left the track for the trip back home to ATL prior to my final round win so i got no celebritory high fives from them.

It was great to meet Jim and Bill and see Sam again. The bike looks much nicer in person than on the pictures that have been posted. Every pass the bike got quicker and the rider more comfortable. The initial launch is a bit sluggish but that baby starts to pull hard once it gets to rolling. My personal opinion is that the springs on the diaphrams  on the CV carbs are to stiff not allowing the slides to raise up at the lower rpm's under a load. As a result the motor can't turn up against the convertor at a high enough rpm to lock it up for a hard launch. Add softer springs to allow the slides to rise easier with less vacumm at lower rpms so the revs will continue to rise to the stall point of the convertor. Or.... ditch those dang CV's and put a regular set of carbs on it just to test the bike.

Looking forward to seeing this bike get down the track again soon once all the bugs are worked out. Rockingham, here we come.

We know where most of the challenges are. Don't write off the CV carbs yet. Sam's honorary crew chief is coming south Friday. It's going to be running quicker next weekend. That's a promise! I've run this type of combination for the last 25 years. That's why I sign this -

This is the first practice run at Union County drag-way (This track is really set up nice and the people that run this track are good folks)
We went from 4/5 on the ignition box to 2
did some starts and turned it to 1 with better results

Bill took the bike to the end of the first 8th mile and did some starts

This run is the turn around from the first one

This is Bills first run at the tree

More to follow

times are droping and speed is increasing

Its all getting better

Very windy with a 8 to 10 MPH tail wind. This start was in 2nd gear (High)

Franks Winning ET bike from yesterday. What a great guy (Better have your wife's bike finished for next week)

Sam,
I have no doubt it was crossing your path again and that nice team shirt that propelled me to the win last night. And to think, i started to leave the old SOHC at home and bring my other Kaw. I was even planning to take that nice team shirt off after we took our group picture to keep from getting it dirty but my other mind told me to keep it on. Yeap, it was the shirt that brought the win for the Sam Green Racing team. Look out world cause here we come!!!! I've got a feeling that before this season is over that lucky shirt will be worn and washed to a frazzle ;D.
