Thanks Nick and Mick, what a nice pair of North West gentlemen you are, glad to know you both.

The next installment will be in about 10 weeks time with perhaps a dyno session sometime in between.
A big SORRY to Frank and wife because I left without thanking you for just being you, what a lovely couple and respected people you both are.

After being involved in racing for 46 years, I can honestly say that this last two weeks have been the best of my career.

I have been blessed to have a team around me who are second to none. The sad part of it all was that Mike Rieck could not be there to see what a cracking motor he had built, he was missed but he kept in contact a few times by phone. Thanks Mike.

There is still a lot more to come from this motor.

A big thanks to Jon Weeks whos expert knowledge of automatics and how they react to differing weather conditions during racing kept us in check with all the dial ins and what and not what to do, we would have been lost without him, big thanks Jon.

Mates Big Jim and my team mate Bill Benton worked overtime to get the bike ready and throughout the weekend, It was sad that Jim had to leave before he had chance to see the bikes first blood, Still a big thanks to Jim and Billy.

As well as the team, the other competitors were also brilliant, shaking hands and wishing you good luck before each race and sometimes after it.
I didn't see the guy who knocked me out on Saturday but when we were waiting for Billys third round run, the guy came up to us and thought that Billy was me, he congratulated him on a fantastic race, he said he had never witnessed a race so close and didn't know who won untill he had picked up his ticket.

he said he had on board video of the race and will forward it to my email address which I will post if he does on my return home.
Apart from the continuing improvement of the bike over the weekend, the highlight was the way people took to us and this old Honda and also the betting frenzy it caused everytime we came to the line.

but the top moment was the bikes first win and over the track champion

he took a lot of stick from the commentator and it gave pleasure to a lot of spectators and racers alike.

A final thanks to Keith and Frank who helped arange the first two test and tune sessions the weekend before, thanks guys.

you guys sound like you are having a blast. you also have inspired me to hit the local strip once the bike is done and it warms up a bit. gotta convince the swmbo its a smart thing to do as well.

Man, and the news just kept getting better and better!!! What a fantastic start to a magnificent international effort! Wish I could'a witnessed that 1st round win. Welcome, Sam to the wonderful world of American dragracing! The best is yet to come!! You have an amazing support group of talented and enthusiastic team mates and fans. That alone is worth more than all the money in the banks.

I just want to say thanks to Sam, Bill and Mike for letting me be part
of something that really is way too much fun...........

Meeting Mr. John Weeks and what a great guy. a wealth of info about Honda Autos and how to get the most out of them (Given enough time)

Meeting Frank and his lovely wife knowing that if you needed anything they would bend over backwards
too help. And as Sam said just very nice folks that I am proud to call my new friends.

All of the teams around us that gave nothing but encouragement threw out the weekend
although after this weekend they might start to complain when they see the 34 year old Honda auto being backed out of the trailer
for some weekend of racing.

Seeing the young racers coming over and asking what is that.........
and the older racers coming over and remembering how the auto beet them years ago

This old dog is already hunting and has had its first kill (and a big one at that)
Well done Bill

In a couple of weeks, Bill and I will be at it again (After our wife's let us go out and play again)
Time to get the racer back to the shop
and to do some maintenance (Change oil and check the valves) Plugs nuts and bolts etc. etc.

I will be getting some Dyno time lined up
to see where we are and start making very small adjustments to improve our 60 foot times
This motor is a monster after 60 feet so that part will be left alone
Mike R. should be very proud of what he built and what its done to date.

I have some pictures that I will post of this weekends racing soon but its time to go to work

Sam almost took first win with this pass,other rider didn't know he won,real close!!

The way it looked @ the end of the day,just ran @ 12.948 @ 109.51,looked back 3 times,chopped the throttle and won to the line,but it was a double break out and we broke out more,would have loved to see the time,no looking back and no chop,117+ mph,ET 12.5....my thoughts.Bill aka StigII

What a great weekend for the Sam Green Racing Team. I got to meet the infamous auto master -Jon Weeks, was able to spend some time with Bill, Jim and Sam again. Mark came down from Virginia and a group of SOHCers rode their bikes in for a show of support to the team on saturday.

I apologize to Sam and the guys for not being able to hang out more but i was racing 2 classes myself and also had to pit crew for my regular team of racers throughout the weekend. Sam even made me race my F model on saturday but i went out in the first round on a breakout pass. I bought back in and made one more round before lossing due to a misshift (jumped out of gear-bad dogs).

The Sam Green Racing Team Hondamatic was really showing its potential as it kept getting faster and quicker throughout the 2 days of racing. Both riders became more comfortable with the bike and it showed. Sam put down some good numbers to start the show off on saturday and Bill continued where Sam left off. The spectators loved the bike but especially the guys in the betting box. The green was changing hands like crazy each time the Auto pulled to the line. I must say the Auto and Bill made me very happy with the win over Boo Brown on sunday. They took out one of the best. Boo's ego and pride were deflated like a flat tire and the announcer gave him hell about loosing to the old Honda during the entire event. Thanks for that bit of entertainment Bill-lol. A breakout loss ended Bills day but it was well worth it to see the numbers showing up on the board. His time slip reflected the best 60' and 1/8th mile ET for the bike since it was built. It was on a tear although he lifted to keep from breaking out. He scrubbed off 8-9 mph over other runs so i do believe as Sam posted it could have been a 12.5? something pass.

Sam and crew left me behind to represent the Sam Green Racing Team for the remainder of the race. I was the number 5 qualifier and went down the final 5 bikes on my small tire Kawasaki dragbike in the 5.60 index class(1/8th mile) where i lost on a redlight start to the eventual winner. I was the number 11 qualifier in the Top Sportsman class(8.33@152mph)then continued down to the final 4 bikes on my car tire Kaw.

I'm looking forward to racing again with Jim and Bill in the next few months until Sams return in November.

First pass Saturday morning. Note the .023 reaction time on the finish line scoreboard! (.000 is perfect) At that time, the quickest and fastest pass that the bike had ever made.

With the bike show and visitors on Saturday, I used up my camera battery before Sam went into elimination racing. Charger left at the hotel.

Quite the experience for me!

1st congratulations to all the members of Team Sam Green. An outstanding effort by all. A special thanks as well, for all those pic's, video, and especially the posts, that allowed us reading, to share the moments.
