Havent read all the pages here(i will soon) but what 1/4 mile times are you looking at?
I had a Suzuki GS1000 -80 with some heavy mods some years ago. It managed to go 8.90 at the best (european record holder). But that was a pro stock bike though... It was actually raced against Terry Vance over in the USA back in the days.
I have been thinking of rebuilding one of my 550's lately to a classic dragbike just for fun. Low weight is the keyword i guess :-)

Hi SixGun, as you said you've not read all the post. The bike is a dial in ET bracket bike so the times are irelavant. We would be pleased with low to mid 12s but It's only a hot street motor and we are more concerned with consistency and reliability rather than quick times.

Got over to Bills yesterday and started to look really hard at the CVs BEFORE we bolted them in
found some minor things which were easy to fix. (Small adjustments here and there)
bolted everything up and have you guys ever herd the term "light switch response" to throttle input?
And after Bill synced (????) them in it was even better response. I will let Bill fill you guys in on the details
but we are further along than we have ever been with these and looking forward to out last trip to the dyno this weekend
very excited about the results of the CVs

Jim
That's some good news Jim. Nice work! ;)

I have to agree with you Murphy, poor old Jimmy suffers from the same problem that you have........................................

Congrats to Jon on his win. Its always nice to make rounds and then look up with only 2 bikes standing and you're one of them. Samauto will get its first win soon and the partying will begin.

Great work Jim and Bill. Looking forward to witnessing the fruit of  your labor soon.

Something I didn't miss out on was this PM forwarded from Jon from a new member who hasn't yet posted.

Got an interesting private message today on this forum. Thought that you'd like to read it?

I see you're running 10's with your 1180 motor-I have a 997cc, 125-75 Megacycle cam, 1100f carbs, k-head, 3800 stall in my bike. Best of 12.50 @110mph-really a toad for 60'. Have a 5mm stroker crank for next year. If you don't mind-what have you got for; cam, bore x stroke, head, carbs, stall etc? My lowest elevation is 1600'. thx for any info you'll share.
Brian Wilkening, Buffalo WY.

Hmmm, same cam, same slow 60' with even more displacement. Better stall speed due to more power from larger displacement. Food for thought

::)......As The Dyno Turns.......sounds good, wow a midrange curve finally on the money.....rut ro....the mains are WAY LEAN...didn't finish run.Installed 130's largest we had with us.Still too lean, but only making 60 RWHP?? ??? Somethings up!!!! Quick compression check..all good...knew they would be! Leakdown later today.Carbs have way more air coming into main jet holder/e.tube.Ran a 150 and 170,still @ 60 RWHP.bike didn't miss ,but acted like box was on full retard or no advance ???.Plugs clean, wonder now if wire, box and coil all went together? New coils and wires fine.Going to send this one back to test.Putting on Dyna S for next weekend and maybe Rockingham. ::) We'll get it right next weekend and then race or install 2000 again. It's what we want. Going to install Dyna air jet(their size) smaller mains and start over with the carbs and their needles and then adjust. Frank, hold the food(I'm in) just make mine a double shot first! ;) ;D   Off to unload and get ready.  :o,Bill....that's racing!
