Give me a idea of the cost, if decent I will drive up and get them. I have relatives in the Greenbush area.

No need to PM prices, it's not a secret i'm trying to keep it under 600 for the set. He says that should be possible...but I just hope he can do it with the fit and finish I want since i'm a perfectionist.

Anyone have any ideas for a baffle system that could be bolted in? Something relatively cheap so I could include them with the pipes for those that want them. I need to get him the baffles by the middle of february so he can make the last part of the exhaust catered to fitting whatever baffles are used.

lets see here...

carpy's were pretty cool and easy to install and remove on his 4-1

i don't have the picture from my carpy pipe, but his are just simple perforated inserts with fiberglass packing wrapped around them.  the perforations are recessed on the inner diameter of the rolled lips on both ends, and the fiberglass goes there to quiet things down a bit.

sorry i don't have any other pictures, i never saved them from my desktop, but shoot carpy an e-mail, maybe he can get you a picture or tell you where he got his.  i mean his system is only $400 and it's hand bent in the back and includes the baffle, so i can't see how they could cost that much!!

That could probably do the trick, I shot Carpy out an e-mail.

I also just did a quick google search and found a bazillion cheap baffles for bikes for under 10 bucks each lol. Most would fasten in with one nut or bolt that could be placed on the side of the pipe by the bike so you wouldn't see it. They could be wrapped in fiberglass to help with noise a little too...from the looks of it...might not be hard to just make some baffles. Piece of exhaust flare the end, drill some holes, wrap some fiberglass muffler packing around it, secure with a screw/bolt...done. Not sure what kind of sound that will yield though.

Sweet! Thanks guys, now I have some more options to work with. I'm heading over to his place monday night to find out what kind he can make work the easiest/best before I order anything for him to try.

My bike will be the test mule for it to go on a running bike...for now the cheapo bike with a seized motor is the one being used for mockup. I'll try and snag some pics monday night. I'm hoping to have my bike up and running by the end of February so we can do final bending/welding/mockup on mine. My bike will still need paint, but that won't happen until spring anyways.

He is still trying to figure out a flange system...probably just gonna copy the MAC setup unless anyone has a better idea? For now he's just bending and shaping the tubing to match the stock 4-4, then doing tweaking to get the larger pipes to fit next to each other and the bike better.

those baffles look similar to the ones in Rineharts shotgun pipes for harleys, the end caps are anodized aluminum on the rineharts but otherwise theyre the same.

Don't know if it's viable for you guys in the USA but we used to baffle our old drag pipes for the benefit of the annual roadworthiness test (MoT) by visiting the local VW parts specialist and picking up some of the 6 inch baffles for a VW Beetle exhaust. They just need drilling and bolting straight in....then whip them out once the bike has passed the noise test LOL!

I sent him a few links for baffle ideas, but I won't be making it over there tonight. I was in the ER saturday night until last night with either another Hernia, or a pinched nerve in my groin, they still havn't figured out what the problem is. Just gave me heavy duty pain killers and i'm seeing the specialist that did my hernia surgery a couple years ago on wednesday.

For now i'll update the first post in this thread with those genuinely interested. Obviously no money involved for now, I just want to make sure this is going to be worth his (Jason) while for the time he is investing.

colin,

that sucks!!  i'll keep the fingers crossed it's just a pinched nerve!  man, i had a friend with a hernia in high school, and he was damn near useless for 2-3 weeks!  i hope it's nothing but good news!

Well when I had the surgery 2 years ago on the same side i'm having problems with. I was out of work for 5 weeks. It REALLY sucked....so i'm hoping its not a problem with that same repair that was done...ugh...either way I won't find out anything now until wednsday afternoon.

For now i'm on the good stuff hehe. The doctors at JFK hospital in NJ were most certainly baffled, I had 2 CAT scans done, 2 Things with the warm goo and whatnot...like they do for pregnant women, and about 6 different doctors poking and prodding in areas I DON'T like to be poked and prodded in lol.

Did they insert a mesh to repair the first time? I just watched a bit on the news about some hernia repair with mesh going south and perforating a bowel.

I know what you went through & I agree it's no damn fun.

I hope all goes well.

Lol no news on the exhaust, my health has been better...seeing another "specialist" on monday. The good news is they don't think it's the mesh repair going south...the bad news is they still don't know what's wrong. The other bad news is I can't get jack squat done with anything since i'm hobbling around like a 90 year old man.

Lol, well not that anyone cares about specifics...but I have ANOTHER hernia, the repair I had done before didn't fail. So that's good and bad...sort of. Either way, Jason promised me he's made progress on the exhaust but I havn't been able to get over there. He's heading on vacation for 13 days on wednesday so won't be making any progress until after then. I'm gonna try and get over there tomorrow night after class and snag some pics before he heads out of town but can't promise anything.

Sorry guys, I know this isn't great news but I figured i'd keep everyone updated.
