MOTOPARK MOTORCYCLE FESTIVAL - June 12 & 13 2010
« on: November 24, 2009, 08:04:39 PM »
I copyed this from another forum..

Planning is underway for a 2 day motorcycle fun festival at Motopark, north of Durham, Ontario.

Way back in the 70's, Carl Bastedo and the Cycle Canada crew held a 2 day festival which was a great success. Well, it's time for another!!

This festival will focus on the enjoyment of motorcycling, both on and off road. Various activities are planned with nearly all concentrating on rider and passenger involvement. Field games ( eg. run an obstacle course with a water balloon held between the rider and passengers helmet or torso) will all involve a passenger, so start practicing low speed maneuvers with your significant other, kids or parents.

A swap meet and flea market will be available for anyone wishing to deal/barter/trade motorcycles and related goods.
Drag out the old motorcycle gear, books and bikes. Set up a booth and find your "stuff' a new home.

A road tour is planned with routes for road bikes, D/S and street legal trail bikes. Durham area has scenic roads suitable for any riders tastes. Scavenger hunts, poker rides and GPS routes are possibilities.

Free style MX, trials exhibitions and enduro cross course are planned. participants will be required to wear full safety gear and follow Motopark rules (eg. brown pops AFTER the days riding)

The Relic Reliability Run will involve classes for any bike built before 1990. Dust off the barn bikes and cottage clunkers gang, you do not need plate or insurance for Motopark! If it leaves the starting post and returns running, we don't care if you carry it the rest of the two laps! This will be a blast, so file the points, patch the tubes and crank them up!

The vintage crew are invited show off their machines from "the day".

Dealers are invited to contact us about model displays and demo rides.

Motopark will have camping available, come for a few hours, one day or the entire weekend!

A bar-b-que will be held Sat. evening followed by a Liars Contest and Tall Motorcycle Tales session. Now, we all know a few "stories' involving bikes, it's time we tell everyone.

This festival is geared to the entire family. We want to provide an environment where both the enthusiast and the non rider can enjoy themselves. Drag your parents or in-laws out and show them what we do and why we enjoy this sport. There will never be a better time to introduce them to our idea of "recreation".

If you wish to assist in this venture as an individual, or as a group (ODSC members challenged to create their version of "THE PURPLE HELMETS" precision motorcycle clowns??) please notify me, Rick Currah 519-743-9921 or currah@sympatico.ca

The event is in the planning/organization stages. We are open to suggestions for events and exhibits. If you or your club have a motorcycle related topic, put a plan together and approach us. You are invited to be a part of this festival.

Sincerely,
Carl Bastedo, Tim Bellamy and Rick Currah

Sounds like a hoot! Pity it's so far away. :( Good luck with your planning.
