The first prototype z1 900cc was in the spring of 1971.  The first production model was in feb. 1972.
The first mass produced model was built in may of 1972 sold as the 1973 900 z1 Kawasaki .  ;D

The two Kaw triple gods:

Nevill Lush from Terry's neck of the woods, and Paul Gast from the states. These two are pretty much responsible for the fact that you can buy every engine part made newer and better, still today. And not to mention Tomcat's computer designed expansion chambers. If you think these things were fast then, they still aren't allowed to compete with equally displaced machines. They are faster now than ever, by alot.

CAN YOU SAY BUMP?  WAITING FOR AN ANSWER TO MY QUESTION. :)

JUSTIN

Sorry mate, I was waiting for you to take your caps lock off, in some quarters, typing in upper case is considered offensive, but looking at your previous posts, I'm guessing that you just don't know that?

Now I see that you've changed your question from, "In 1969, the CB 750 was the quickest production bike in the quarter and in top speed, right?" to "AM I CORRECT THOUGH, THAT IN 1969, THE CB 750 WAS THE FASTEST FOUR STROKE BIKE ON THE MARKET?", so which did you want me to answer?

The Kawasaki 500 triple pre-dated the CB750 by a year, was faster in the 1/4 mile, and had a slightly faster top end speed. The CB750 was Japan's largest mass produced four cylinder 4 stroke, (several motorcycle companies had built and sold four cylinder bikes as far back as the 1920's) and until the Kawasaki 900 was released a couple of years later, was "the" bike to have. This is an interesting read about Kawasaki's history. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Frank, you know how to use the internet, don't be such a big fat lazy pr1ck, do a search youself.  ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Alrighty, If you cant show us, I will try to look..

You do know the CB750 first appeared at the 68 Tokyo show, I assume.

And that Kawi had a 4 stroke in the works at that time, but shelved it to come up with something even better than the CB750 when  they got beat to the punch..

I have to say, I have never heard of the 500 triple coming out in 68.
