Hello all,
My name is Chris, I'm 43 and I'm a hondaholic. I recently purchased a CB750K7 that I found on Craig's List that has been
sitting outside under a tarp since the early 90's. This is my second motorcycle, my first being a 2002 Honda 600 Shadow Deluxe,
which I had learned to ride on (after a motorcycle safety course) when I was 38. I had to sell the Shadow after 2 years for financial
reasons and was without a bike until now. Here's what happened...
I recently watched a movie that had made a huge impression on me when I was a younger child. The movie is Psychomania and it
had some bad ass Triumph's in it that the gang rode. After watching the movie I began looking for vintage Triumph's and decided that
I should own one. Once again money sneered and said "you can't afford it, go back to your mini van." "Like Hell!" I replied and foolishly
continued my search.
That is when I found the vintage Honda's were within my reach and the styling had the same appeal as the Triumph for me. The
Honda CB750 on the top 3 bikes list was the clincher.
I bought this bike on Halloween and it needs a lot of work to get it one the road again. I have never worked on bikes but am determined
to learn and this is my first. Man am I thankful for the internet and all the help it is providing me. Many thanks for this site, I know that I am not alone.
So far I bought a battery at Pep Boys and tried to get her going, she cranks but does not start. The throttle was frozen, I got it to move
a bit, the choke was stuck, I got it to move pretty well, gas poured out of the carb intake tubes when I turned the petcock and my house smelled like gas for a week, there is a lot of rust and the front tire is flat, the left turn signal is broken, and my wife looks at me like I have six heads, but I have the carbs apart down in my basement and I am probably in over my head and I have began to worry that I may have an obsession being that I am always looking and thinking and dreaming about and down in the basement until the wee hours working on motorcycles. Now all I have to do is get this one running so I can actually RIDE again.
