Topic: Crank Shaft Rod Pin size?

Does anyone know what the diameter of a GL1500 crank rod pin is or if it is the same size as the honda cb750? I've tried looking all over the internet but cant find anything on it.

My Honda manual says the piston pin od (service limit) is 18.99mm
It says the con rod small end id is 18.04mm (service limit)
Lists piston pin bore (service limit) as 18.06 mm

Doesn't quite make sense to me, but that's what the manual says.

Wonder how you get an 18.99 mm pin into an 18.04 mm hole (without a hydraulic press)??

No idea - the manual goes into great detail about the color-coding of the big end bearing inserts and plasi-gauging, etc., without ever mentioning the actual diameter of the big end rod bearings.

Running a reverse parts looker-upper scan on the bearing inserts themselves indicates they are specific to the 1500/1800 engines - no mention of 750's.
But that's still not to say they wouldn't fit.
The easiest way to find out would be to obtain a bearing insert from the Wing and see if it would fit on a 750...they're still available and only about $9 per set.

That's good idea, I never thought about just getting one of the bearing inserts. Thanks, ill let you know if they work. The other issue is length but we know that until we get one of them. We are curiouse if those rods will be an alternative to a stronger rod for a big bore kit. We heard from a bike builder that they were. I just wanted to do some research on it before i go and spend money on something i cant use.
