shaft to chain rim swap/cbr to cb exhaust swap
« on: November 29, 2009, 07:53:47 AM »
i have the rims off 82 cx 500 turbo (shaft dr) and want to put them on my 78 750f cafe project. seen a chain conversion kit for cx somwhere and looked to just be a chain and sprockets in picture. anyone ever done this or know anything that could be of help? these rims go perfect with the style im building and hell bent to apply them. also would like to know if cbr 600 exhaust will fit 750f. thanks for any help.

I dont see how to turn a shaft drive hub into chain drive without major fabricating of carriers, and then there wont be a cush drive.

Also dont see how to convert CX to chain drive without a right angle conversion drive

Why not just get the rims of an Supersport if you want the Comstars?

77-78  750 will bolt in fairly easy with the right spacers.

Without the rubber cush drive a sprocket bolted solid to the hub would most likely wear out quickly or actually shear its teeth not to mention the added stress placed on the chain.  I would think this is asking for trouble.

This is a very thouough thread on vintage mag wheels, the topic of cush drives is brough up and many members gave opinions based on actual experiences.
It's long but I recommend reading it through when time allows.

ill definitely check it out and thanks. that just reminded me that i need to get them out of my parts bike  and put in the other rims. the whole thing with the conversion kit i saw somewhere is simply just haunting me. i want them badly but not badly enough to risk the integrity of my ride. theirs already one questionable thing ill be posting soon about for opinion and help on info or better suggestion's. man, theirs alto of impressive mods on here and I'm sure ya'll will appreciate my build. not much on the internal motor mods but alto of cool other mods.

Nobody is gonna die or grow a third eye, if they dont have a cush drive.. :o
Besides, if it were important, then why didnt the shafty have it.. Eh??..EH??

Should cost 200 or less to convert the wheel, basically a big lump of aluminum, with a register lip, and a bearing bore.. and 2 bolt patterns in it.. piece-of-cake..
