Off topic here. My wifes blazer 4x4 stopped going into 4x4. The new modual cost like $500.00,  I pulled both wire harness off, they had moisture corrosion on terminals. Cleaned them up with electrical spray and electric grease. WORKS GREAT. Just a heads up before you go to a shop for $500.00.

On the 2000 Blazer the shift 4x4 modual is behind the passenger side kick panel up front by your feet.   ;D ;) :)

good trouble shooting
however
looking ahead, you should have told your wife the truck was shot
fixed it, then sold it to buy yourself a toy

I think the s-10s ARE toys! But then I like mid sized pickups.
