Opinions: '73 CB350F or '73 CB500
« on: March 23, 2010, 08:29:23 AM »
So... I love my 350F... but I've been tempted lately to try and swap it for a 500 or 550, and wanted to get some peoples thoughts on the differences. I've never ridden another 70's CB other than the 350F.

I've got my eye on a '73 500 at the moment (they only made one, right? CB500K2?). How drastic are the differences in weight, handling, power, etc? What about the 550?

I love the styling of the 350F, and also realize its a fairly rare bike - so I don't want to get rid of something I should be holding onto either. I've currently got clubmans on it too, and can feel myself leaning towards cafe styling more and more with these bikes, fyi...

For you guys that have rode multiple CBs, what do ya think?

I say something wrong ??? Anyone have an opinion on the differences between these two? Another factor; I'm 6' even and about 180lbs - and sometimes wonder if the 350F is too small...

Why swap?
No one should have just one!  ;D  scrape up the cash and get another!

A few members here have stated, and random people on the street have said to me, they wish they either had a 350F now, or wish they never gave up the one they had.
words of wisdom maybe...i dunno, but you'd have to pry mine out of my dead hands..  :P

I'm not sure what the size difference is between the CB350F and the CB350 twin. I have a 350 twin and it was my main bike for a year before I bought my CB500. I'm about 5'9" and under 170. I find the CB500 much more comfortable and it has just the right amount of get-up-and-go that i need. I recommend the 500, but if you can keep the 350 do it.

Yeah I do love the 350F - and it's a sharp one at that. But I suspect I'd like the added horse of a 500/550. Just have never rode one before. Don't really have the $$ to buy a second bike but that'd be the way to go for sure!
