You probably could get it to work with enough time and money...and patience and imagination.
My take is that you would probably do well to design and build your own frame based on a 79-82 CB750 steering neck.
Keep the 79-82 Vin and title, the neck will accept modern front ends with very little hassle because the length is what Honda stayed with from 79 to the present day.
Build a more traditional CB750 sohc styled bike using traditional stock sohc 750 tank, seat, and chrome fenders, use whatever swingarm, wheels and front end you want.
It'll look great, it'll ride well if you design it well, and you'll get more attention than you bargained for. Got bars on your garage windows yet?
Cool idea, I'll have to try one someday when there are no more sohc 750's left.
