Topic: help broke off valve adjustment cover!!

today I while trying adjust the valves I broke off the cover (see pics) !! How can I fix this??

suggestions so far...

1. use a chisel to make a notch and try to then turn the chisel so that it faces in the direction of LOOSE and try to tap it off...

2. JB-weld the bad boy back together (afraid to do this)

I am sure this has happened to someone else before...what is the best way to fix this??

Wrong section of the forum.... But I've done it twice. Classic overtightening. I was able to unscrew the piece by hand both times. Both times got replacements from my local vintage Honda guy for free, then very cheap (gotta pay for being dumb enough to do it twice in the same month) don't JB it!

where in the forum should i post this? How did you unscrew it by hand? Chisel method?

General questions are handled in the "SOHC" forum. Projects is for ... projects. Ongoing multiple step builds of various complexity, often complete builds lasting many months.

Not just a one time question.

Welcome and good luck with your question. It has happened to many people and as stated, usually the remains just spin out.

I'll add a tip. These should only be tightened enough that they won't fall out. usually a gloved hand will do it. Then if it leaks, squeak it a little tighter as needed. That should avoid a recurrence.
