More carb dissassembly questions
« on: January 07, 2006, 07:12:40 PM »
So I pulled the bolt locking the arm to the shaft off.  And I got the cap & little pin thing out.  Then I could rotate the arm out of the way...to do what??  I'm not sure what this has accomplished, and where to go from here.  Everything inside these things are wicked dirty, so I feel the need to keep digging & cleaning.  Help.

The slide can now pull straight up and out, which lets you clean it and the hole where it goes at least. Probably your slides are gummed up completely and won't move... spray a bit of penetrating oil around the edge and wait a few hours then try again. carb cleaner spray might help too but it evaporates rather quickly.
Also you can see the 2 philips head screws down there... they hold on the cap with that connecting rod thingy attached. Underneath is the main jet needle and its adjusting clip; if you want to raise or lower the needle that's where you go.
But you should get the whole slide out. Mark them somehow so each goes back in its original carb, they've gotten used to each other over the years.

Thanks.  I tried yanking up and nothing moves at all.  I'll have to spray them up and see what happens.  I've been taking a bunch of pictures for the re-assembly stage, and keeping everything in 4 separate, marked tupperware containers.
