Are my brake pads toast??
« on: December 05, 2009, 05:09:43 AM »
I recently rebuilt my 400s slave cylinder put in new brake pads.  I must have left some crud in the slave cylinder seal grove which allowed brake fluid to leak out on to the disk and brake pad.  I realized the problem when I began to sense a declining braking ability. I have thoroughly cleaned and inspected all slave cylinder components and reinstalled and bled the system and confirmed that the leak has been fixed.   Is there any way to clean out the brake fluid which has soaked into the pads or do I have to get a new set??  I hate the idea of throwing away almost new pads.

Clean them with a product called "Brake Cleaner" from auto parts store, let them dry, sand with 120 sand paper. Should be fine.
