Blond moment

So I'm riding along the parade, an area where no one speeds cos it's like a cruising area and ahead I see a small car with a young lady in it coming up to a T intersection.
She looks at me, I have my headlight on and the bike is a huge blob of white with red lights all over it, I always wear hi-vis gear with a white helmet, she looks left still rolling then she rolls on right out in front of me! >:(
I'm thumbing the siren on one side (oops better not!) and the horn on the other but all I get to do is yell at her "YOU DUMB STUPID F*#KN B*TCH".......as I slide past, she roars off trying to hide under the dash board!
I couldn't be more visible if I had a man with a flag running in front of me yelling "bike, bike follows beware bike !!!!!! >:(
Damn that makes me angry!
Any other biker doing normal road speed would be sorting out a pranged front end, good job it was me nannying along enjoying the evening. :)
Hopefully she got enough of a fright to remember to watch for bikes in future, I mean she looked right at me first of all!

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

they usually do - just before they t-bone you or just plain old give you the finger...

young guy did it to me on a Sunday ride a few weeks ago - coming through a round about from my left - decided he wanted to be a smart arse - floored it and stalled - right in front of me - I nearly landed in his driver side window - but managed to put it sideways against his door - just in time to punch him in the head once - with a kevlar clad fist, calll him a f'''kn d;;khead....

then I politely continued on my way - leaving a dazed and unhappy "p" plater - with is blonde girlfriend - saying "whats my problem"

by the way - I didn't have one - but my left hand felt really good..

When my wife and first got together I had to stop her (had to remind her allot) that she should not throw her smoke butt out the window because there might be a motorcyclist behind us. She stated she never really thought of that. Funny how when people don't ride they don't think of us.. Glad nothing happened this time man..

I have two rules I follow religiously when I ride. They are the same rules I taught my son when he started to ride a few years back.

1.) 75 percent of the cagers on the road will never see you. Even when they are looking right at you; even when you think you are making eye contact; even when you are flashing your lights and honking your horn - they are looking at you but they are not seeing you. Always leave yourself an escape route.

2. The remaining 25 percent of cagers on the road are actively trying to kill you. Use the 75 percent who don't see you as running interference.

These kinds of incidents are a daily occurrence here in Boston on my ride to work. The other morning I had a young woman in a very small car, try and move into my lane..when I layed on the horn and was level with her window, she continued to move over into my lane while giving me the finger......later on as I got closer to work I had an older woman look right at me and then proceed to turn left across my lane (I was going straight) in a classic t-bone scenario....more horn....but nothing changes...

Absolutely +1 with Bob W., it is a brain phenomenon as road users 99% of the time are 'tuned-in' to 4 wheel vehicles at T junc. especially.
It's well proven on this forum by lots of " he/she was looking straight at me and STILL came out.....they look ,they see , but a bike doesn't register as a road user/right of way holder. This is especially dangerous in areas of the country that have a riding season; i.e. no bikes on the road for several months and would be most dangerous when bikes just start to use the roads again in Spring ......0 bike/brain connection as a road user....stay safe, y'all....! I read somewhere that it's the 'narrow bike profile ' approaching that fails to trigger it as a road user.

On the way to a poker run to raise funds for Chrismas toys a punk in a mustang looked right at us and changed into our lane just a few feet ahead of us. I really wanted to chase the little ------ but my more mature brother gave me the look and I remembered why we were riding. So I didn't let the punk ruin our day. It was the first time we had ridden together in many years and one to remember.

Sorry, slid past in speedway style slide with back wheel locked and drifting and front turned hard left to keep bike upright, dump my bike...Hell NO!!! ;)

i had a little girl in a big dodge ram pull out infront of me earlier this summer while i was doin 70.... i thank God there was another lane  or i woulda been part of that truck i still almost hit her.... i was on my dads kawl with loud pipes so i pulled the clutch and red lined it just incase my swerving lights didnt catch her attn..nobody can bother me more than a young girl that drives like a young girl.... it took me hours to calm down.. and i dont get mad too often

Riding in London is pretty hairy too sometimes, all of the above applies except Patrick's percentage figures are reversed.

I ended up fitting a Stebel horn, made in Italy. It's definitely prevented at least one accident.

Turn your speakers up to about 4 or 5:...

people like that young woman are why i carry a hammer when i ride.

Wow that is one LOUD horn.. That would surely scare the crap out of me that's for sure. I like it!

Cagers really do have trouble seeing motorcycles, especially if motorcycles are not a common item in the area.  Night time is bad with only one headlight because you just don't look like a car.  If you can get running lights or fog lights on there, then you will be more recognizable.  College campuses are quite possibly the worst place to drive though with all of the spaced out, and lost, students and parents.
I live in SF now, and people are much more aware of motorcycles here.  Probably because of the massive number of bicycles around.  Some jerk woman still merged into my lane the other day though, looked at me when I honked, gave me the finger... and then my old spastic leg went into overdrive and started kicking her car.  Boy, I wish I didn't have such a spastic leg.  ;-)

Agreed, Luckily I live with in 30 miles of the harley plant so we have bikes like crazy around here. That is probably why I really never wanted one.. However I bet our drivers around here are more used to seeing bikes and looking out for them then most places.

My Police siren makes people jump and I swapped the really loud horn off the 650 Custom before I sold it (man they have loud horns!) :)
I'm thinking of adding a P28 Tonfa which my cop son gave me to the bike, the USA versions were fitted with them so it's not totally out of place running along the frame, I'm betting it would make one Hell of a dent in a car door. ;D

I had a coworker's smoke butt catch under my wind shield.  I brought it into her and said, "Here...you dropped this."
