After market 4 into 1 pipe
« on: December 05, 2009, 06:53:04 AM »
The PO of my 76 K6 put these pipes on. Does anyone know what brand of pipe this is? As you can see the pipe is in good shape except the upper section needs to be painted. All I've found so far is flat black heat paint-they do make a gloss black don't they? . The lower section where it goes into the chrome pipe is gloss and still looks good. I want to put the factory type pipe back on, but until I can I want to get these looking good. By the way its a good rainy day project.

I have one on my '73.  The PO said it was a MAC.  I sent it to Evans Performance (Cumming GA), and for $140, they are blasting and ceramic coating it gloss black.  I had sanded it and used VHT's ($12/can) high-temp ceramic spray paint, but it would rust thru in a couple weeks.  I thought the ceramic was a bargain, and they say I should get many years out of it.

Yeah, that's a mac.

Pull out the baffle and fabricate a better one (shouldn't be too hard) and you will get a better sound. They've always been too tiny and rattly for my tastes.

Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

Fabricator - I'm looking for a coater.  How does the finished product look?  Would you recomend Evans Performance?  Anyone else have a good source for ceramic coating?  I talked to a dude in Jersey that wants $200 to do the pipes (4x4 stock) on my 350 in silver.
