So, long story short, I'm selling a laptop worth about 300 dollars on craigslist for 200 bucks, and I see this ad there:

Seems she had $200 until you mentioned that you may be willing to work with her on a price. Then all of a sudden she has only $140. Too often you try and do a good deed and the other party wants to take advantage. Screw her.

First off, people lie. Her advert may have been BS to get someone to give her a sympathy break. It did work you came down $25 just for that reason. When these people don;t get their way they turn nasty. I used to run into that crap all the time when I ebay traded for years. " My Mom has Cancer and she used to have a radio just like that and it would give her comfort to listen to it in her final days". Could I end it early?

I had one who was thrilled she won some sewing machine since she needed a hobby and was taking up quilting blah blah blah. Turns out she ran a quilting store.

I have a freind who runs private garbage companies, which is s rough business. I used to think he was cynical, then I realized he had seen so much, he just told it like it really is. Congrats on selling the laptop.

My guess is she is the owner of rental property in Portland and she has grown accustomed to be being an insufferable #$%* in her business dealings. Just my take on the situation. You should email her back with a new email address, May I suggest The chisler@fu.net.

I guess the lesson learned is that when a price for goods or services has been set by the provider, delivery of the goods or services will not take place until full payment has been made. No negotiations will be tolerated, no sob stories will be heard.
If someone wants to attempt to lower our standards or our prices for our goods or services, it should not be tolerated and all communication with them should be ignored permanently...people don't change once they've developed a sense of entitlement.
