76 CB550 main bearing
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:07:48 AM »
So I'm reassembling my engine, and decided I'd see about ordering a new bearing, because the old one seemed a little worn. The code on the bearing is 6205, when I look at the parts list to get a part number I only see 6305 listed and some 6322. Its number 71 on the transmission/kick starter parts page. I guess my question is what part should I get?

i can't help much other than letting you know that if you multiply the last 2 digits of a ball element roller bearing, you'll find it's ID in mm.  6205 and 6305 ball bearings will have a 25mm bore.  the 62xx series are light duty and 63xx are medium duty.  OD and thickness can/will vary between series.  if it was me, i'd replace what you pulled out.           .0002

Thank you that's helpful information. Just got home from work, and looked at the parts list, it shows the other bearing on the primary shaft as being the 6205, which I just looked on my shaft, and is the 6322.  My first assumption was that the two had been mixed up previously by someone else, until I checked a spare primary I have which matched. It would appear the parts are mixed up on the parts list.
