you don't bore cylinder heads, you bore cylinders out to accept larger pistons.. jetting and exhaust will net you almost nothing without some work on the heads like porting/polishing to match it...but again, the gain is so small for the price it's not really worth it..especially on a street bike, or unless you plan to dig right into the motor and go all out.

easy simple bolt on things to do are a 650 cam, you probably really notice it when get into the high RPM's.

i am not sure if you are just asking to have more HP over all or if you really mean you want the bike to have more oomph at low rpm's.... getting more low end torque out of a small cc 4 is just not gonna happen, it's the way flat plane 4's are.  RPM to make hp.  You want massive low end torque, you need a single or a twin to do it, but you trade off high speed.  (although not so much anymore, my 999 hits the limiter at 11,000...thats real high for a twin)

mlinder said it best...

it can be a trade off...you can go to town on motor work and make one of these perform like crazy, but you will always need to rev it.  It will make it almost undrivable in the city.     My friend had an 05 Kwaka ZX10 and put in a set of cams that he did no research on and he pretty much lost all midrange.  So the bike was only ever making good power when it was bouncing off of the limiter.   He sold it.. :P

Or you could try to get someone to make you a cam that makes 1&4 fire at the same time, and 2&3 fire at the same time.
Hill climbers used to do it. Makes it act like a twin, kinda. Heard it was real hard on the motors, though.

Yep.

R550 put one in recently, I noticed a marked improvement throughout the rev range.

without really digging into a complete tear down thats about all your gonna get.

how many miles on the motor, is your rocker box the good one that doesn't wear out bad?

Edit: 77, you should have the good rocker box.

Check for valve seal and valve guide wear, replace if needed. Serdi valve job is always nice.
But if it wasn't burning much oil on startup previous to tear down, don't worry about it.

3 angle grinding job done on valve seat and valve, so they close completely and precisely.
Lessee, I'll find a link.

You can always just wind the bike out to higher RPM's.  Seriously you don't need to be flogging it to run at higher RPMs, just delay your shift a bit.  These bikes are pretty unhappy at lower RPMs no matter what you do.

You prolly don't really need to. It won't give you more power, unless you have issues up top. Just pop the 650 cam in. check valve seals and seats, and see how she goes.

Gearing is cheapest, plus its reversible.

 The one everyone missed;
Single carb or smaller carbs.. yeah you gotta make a manifold, but its reversible..

Porting is not cheap , nor is it reversible..

3 angle valvejob, ya gotta have that..

you should have no troble finding a Serdei, most engine shops have had them for decades... at least around these parts (town of 100K)

I bet if you made a manifold & ran a single dual throat Weber, and got it jetted, you would really like what it does to it..

 easier than making a header...

Yep. Doesn't add power, but puts it down faster

Kinda covered that in the whole intake velocity thing

Yeah, I suppose it depends on how far youw ant to get into it, and if it needs a valve job.

seams like there are many things i could do, much of which are more complicated then id like it to be, so i gues ill just stick with the 650 cam.

Just another point. If your exhaust pipes are original and in good shape. They dont make those anymore. Dont drill them. You might be able to trade them to someone here for ????!
