500/550 clutch cables
« on: December 18, 2009, 01:40:04 AM »
can some one verify if the clutch cables are the same on the 500,and the 550s,i want to put my rebuilt 500 top end onto a good 550 bottom end,i have the engine mounting bracket for the 550 with the loop for the cable,i havent pulled it apart yet or done a dry run with the cable to see if itll make the distance,i want to do it in one go and not chase up a cable halfway through.,my parts list has the 500 one as 22870-323-020.

Part number 22870-323-020 is for some areas. For Europe it's 22870-323-621.
For models CB550F, CB550F1, CB550F2 and CB550K3 it's 22870-374-000 for your area.

The Honda part numbers differ but the aftermarket catalogues i have access to in UK say the same cable fits both (and the 750). lengths might be slightly different, I would try it and see as soon as engine bottom is in then if not you have time to get one whilst rebuilding

I remember having seen clutch cable with different parts number have like 10 cm length difference (97 cm and 107 cm I believe). I suppose this relates to the low/high handlebars in the various areas.
