Spoke wheel for 77/78 F front.
« on: December 06, 2009, 06:26:32 PM »
I was thinking, probably a few might want this.

I think M Reick has one, not sure what he used..
Could redrill a K hub, but I think it would hit the webs.

Could redrill the discs, probably cheapest.

But the coolest I think would be a billet hub, that looks similar to a K hub, only problem is, cant get the weight down, unless the finned area is smaller diameter. or cut like a Yamaha hub.

Let me know if there is an interest..

I might be interested. The rear wheel is a pretty simple swap with a 76f swing arm right? It's the front wheel that poses the problem.

Does not look like a lot of interest in a spoked wheel.

I would rather make like 3 at once than 1 at a time.. hard to keep the costs down..

I would guess that there would be some amount of interest.  There are F2/F3 owners who want to ditch the ugly Comstars and there are the K bike owners who want dual discs with spoke wheels. . . .The GL1000 front end swap is quite popular.  Why?  Because it gives you decently performing dual disc brakes and spoke wheels.  It provides significantly better braking performance than a dual set of K type brakes and it is an "engineered" package from Honda.  Install is pretty much straight forward with little custom fabbing/machining. The F2/F3 dual disc front offers similar performance and is even more straight forward in the install.  If there was a spoke wheel hub to allow the use of the 5 bolt F2/F3 rotors in proper offset that didn't cost an arm and a leg then you no longer are limited to Comstars. . . . ."Advertise" what you are offering a bit more carefully and perhaps they will come!

OK, I am thinking billet hub to fit stock F forks and accept stock 5 bolt rotors, axle, bearings,etc...or wire wheel conversion hub.

They would cost 200 USD bare(includes bearing spacer). If costs allow, bearings, may be included.

The cost could probably be cut down with higher quantity made. I would have to make at least 2 or 3 at a time to make it wirthwhile..
