Good Salvage yards near Columbus, OH
« on: October 20, 2008, 01:26:59 PM »
Anyone know of any good motorcycle salvage yards around Columbus Ohio?  I've called around to a few places, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here.
Thanks,
Matt

Don't know about Columbus, but there is one here in Dayton.  I haven't been there yet, but they only have old hondas and such.

Can you tell me the name of it?  I'm about half way between Columbus and Dayton.

I saw their website, but I thought they were online only type business.

Thanks for the info!

Hi OldRusty & DaytonGuy
I would like to hear more about an old Honda junk yard in Dayton.
OldRusty you might try Derwoods Motorbikes e-mail him at derwoodsmotorbikes at yahoo.com. I talk to him at the Walnecks swap meet. He is in the Springfield area.
How about Sharpy's just south of Chillicothe? It has been a couple of years ago that I was there. He had a lot of stuff then.

Well, It used to be called Spooks, but it goes by a different name now.  It's on Post Town Road in Trotwood.  I've tried to find contact information, but can't seemed to find anything.  I here they're open Saturdays.  I'm going to stop out there sometime, but with the weather changing, it may not be until Spring.

Hi DaytonGuy
I have not been to or past Spook's for over thirty years. Someone told me twenty five to thirty years ago that Spook died and someone bought the place. The Buyer hauled off the Harley parts and dug a big hole and bulldozed every thing else into the hole. Then the buyer sold the land to a near by golf course. Guess that is not what happened.

I know that Cincinnati is about the same distance....so There is a place on Wooster Pike on the East side of Cincinnati it's called Skip's Motorcycle and Auto Salvage.  They are always able to find parts for my bike (75 CB750F), but they deal in all Japanese motorcycles, there # is (513) 321-7530.  Maybe this will help

Well...I still haven't made it out there, but I'm pretty sure it's still there.  The old man that ran it was busted for dealing guns.  He would trade parts for guns.  I have a cop frioend who was part of / or very close to the raid when it happened.  He tells me the son runs it now. and it's still there.

I'm gonna make it over there and if I can, I'll post some pics and put them up here.  I'm looking for a couple 77-78 550 seat pans.  I hope they have a couple.

Hi DaytonGuy
I rode out to Spook's this summer. It is still there. The official name is Spencer Motorcycle Sales, 7674 Post Town Rd., 1-937-854-2519. It looked familiar from 30 years ago.
