I finally got around to installing the coils on my bike that I modified like the post in the FAQ discusses. I ended up ruining one coil somehow. I don't know if the excess heat from trying to solder it ruined it or what but I devised an ingenious (so I thought) plan for modding another spare I had. I found the loose cylinder head dowels I had laying around made a perfect, if not almost too tight, fit on the coil wire I bought online. For this coil, I would cut the wire down to about half an inch out of the coil, fit the dowel over it, jam a brad nail into it and plug the wire onto the other end. On the bench it all went as planned, on the bike it was disaster. Once on the bike, the (metal) dowel arc'd to the coil mount. I ended up using the brad nails and electrical taping the wires together as a temporary fix. The spark I have now is significantly different from when I first photo's the spark in July. Tomorrow will be the true test to see if it makes any difference starting it. I'm almost worried about my jetting now. I fear I "tuned" my jetting to weak spark and now I'll run too lean or something. Oh well, could be worse I guess...
