Rob,
I will see you there if I'm still kick'in! Mon. and Tuesday of bike week are "vintage" race days. I believe they do tech on sunday.
was there in the seventies or early to see King Kenny crash in practice and the still win the 200. In the late 90's when KOS had Adam Popp piloting their cr750 and for the next five years or so, there were cr750's and all kinds of great works bikes and pilots coming out of the woodwork. One year Vic World was racing a CR and Gary Fisher was there to race the Yoshimura bike of course Jay Springsteen was there to mix it up on the works Harley and it was faster than ever. One year Rob North showed up with three of his framed works bikes. Another year there was a bunch of vintage factory MV mechanics showed up with two works 500 cc race bikes. Those race engines screaming through the conti 4-4 pipes was the most wild animalistic thing I have ever heard. Next to the rc166 6 cyl that Agostini paraded up and down pit road one year. Since around '05 or so, there is now a vintage superbike class. It is really starting to get popular now. I think the last year or so KOS was there it had already began and there were less CR750's. This past year, now the superbike class has taken over! There was kawasaki and Suzuki superbike clones all over the place. Some DOHC hondas mixed in there, too. Some works bikes, too! Last year a contingent showed up from japan with monster hondas and kawasakis to run in the class. They had 5 or 6 bikes and about ten men. Dave crussel is there every year with his handful of kawasaki triples and ofcourse MR Pat Mooney (local) is there on his Norton every year. Not to forget the year John Brittens wife showed up with two Brittens and made the works Ducati look bad by passing him on the back stretch of the infield on the back tire. Yeah thats what I said!!!!
KOS can chime in and correct me if Im wrong anywhere!!!!!!!!
Needless to say you guys need to get your buts here and enjoy a day vintage racing on the high banks.
