Thanks guys.. I plan to do a write up tomorrow on the BoTM thread, you are correct they are entitled to details and yea I will probably leave out the man cave.. ;)

Spikey, I bet you are correct, would you be willing to part with one or even 4 if need be, if you don't want to part them out.. I will know more once I get them off and look them over. I have seen the pictures of the Rockerbox and I find it odd that in the Heart of HD country it does so well.. I am going to do my best to be there... I have had that goal in mind since this thing started..

Thanks for the needle info, I will also do that, I figure I will have them off and it can't really hurt any thing.

Thanks for all the support! Perhaps I should have named the project Goldfinger or some thing like that..

I am sorry, I am missing some thing.. What did I say? I just meant that if the carbs are just gummed up I don't want to waste Spikeys parts.. so I want to inspect them before I grab spikeys stash.. I meant no disrespect or any thing..

I don't understand what the deal was with what you said either Scott.

Woman's name that's pretty nice and similar to David is  Davia
Da-via
Italiano pronounciation...

Or the hot Israeli character from NCIS...
Cote whateverherlastnameis...
French I believe...but still beautiful and somewhat alluring...

Scott,
Did you see this 750 with the Corbin seat...very nice, very $...
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=64103.msg789243#msg789243

Gold frame as well...

There's a thread about the SOHC/4 forum members working with Corbin to get them to bring back the Gunfighter seat. I think that is an example of it. A few 550 owners have posted about desire to have a 550 Gunfighter seat.
Sure would beat the less than stellar Vietnam seats being sold but probably 2-3x the price and 5x the quality of those seats...

Yes I have been following that thread really closely.. Its a fantastic build he is doing it the right way.. I do really like that seat.. In fact it would work VERY nicely on mine (design wise) but I could not find one for a 550 or at least one that said it would for sure work. The seat I have now is going to go, probably over the winter I will have to figure some thing else out. In the mean time its going to have to work for now. Not all that comfortable and its not designed well. However I do have that place about an hour from here that does really nice work, so I think I will go to them and see what we can come up with.

Ok I am looking for idea's for the exhaust.. The one I have is ok, however I really think I could do better.. I would love to try 4 single pipes no muffler, just straight pipes.. One thing I am sure of I need to change out what I have.. so.. if you have an idea, please post it..

Thanks!

i took the baffle outta my Mac once upon a time  .... way too obnoxious for my tastes.. and it didn't run that good .. BUT  it did sound mean as all hell tho

try pulling the baffle out , to give you a preview of how the open pipes would run

love all the little  details .. (i told you those chrome nuts and bolts are addictive..lol)  i think the seat will look nice with your mods to it (i don't think it's that bad now, if the cover was tighter, but i can see your issues with it )

on the back of the muffler there is a little bolt , remove that , then the baffle is free to come out  .. mine , was really really stubborn and i ended up pulling it out with a slide hammer  ... it'll get you thinking there's something else holding it in but it's just a tight fit

i have the perfect thing to trade for the kickstand ...  lemme go dig and make sure i still got it before i say what it is though

Thanks Spikey.. I will give that a try when I get back home later today.. Yes they are adictive, I wanted to do more of them however it was getting expensive and that is some thing I can do later on little by little. I already have a wish list for the winter, SS brake lines, turning the front rotor, I glazed it pretty good when I was working out the brake issues I had. New Speedo and Tach, not sure but I am thinking the smaller chrome ones.. etc.. Yea, I have that cover as tight as I can get it to go. However I will play with it some before I take it to have the work done, just to see what I can do since it will be fall before I can get it to have the work done.

So I am thinking some thing like this for the exhaust.. Not sure I can find one, but I am sure gonna try.. It will be loud, however I can cross that bridge when I get to it..

my friend has those on his 750, he lost a good amount of "go" with them.
I think they're designed for engines with so much power that 1.75 inch pipe provides the right amount of back-pressure.

I think you should keep the one you have, it's nice lookin'
just cut it off so it's just a header and collector,  and spend the money on a having a good muffler shop bend you up a custom tail pipe to clamp onto it.

You can get 2.5 inch thin wall stainless tubing on eBay and a shop with a mandrel bender can make it sexy for you.
2 small bends on a 22 inch pipe is good, with an 8x1.75in baffle. make it sound mean like a yoshi.
when you're done, polish it up to a mirror finish.

if you do, FYI-
(freeze a 1:1 mixture of soapy water inside it to -20  it makes a very high viscosity gel so it won't kink)
everything I say is pure speculation and
I have no idea what I'm talking about  ._.
