here's a set of trumpet end Jardines that were on ebay recently...
If I didn't have a set of pipes I would have bought them.
I'll get a pic of mine this weekend if I get a chance...

Thanks RAFster122S.. Perfect, I bookmarked them both so this weekend when I have time to do some more research I have a starting point. Joe.. Do they sound good? The one question I never asked you during your build..

Stock headers I thought for the 550 where 4 into 1? Am I incorrect?.. If anyone knows please chime in..

I did find the pipes that came with the bike when I got it, so if I can get to the autoparts store Sunday I am going to look over some of the pipe they have.. Guys around here love to put dual stacks on their pickups and other such things so the local Autozone has lots of pipes, and tips etc..

I tried last night to pull the baffle out of my current exhaust just to see what it would sound like. However that bugger would not budge and I don't have a slide hammer to force it out.. I also may play with that this weekend also.

IC.. That stuff seems to have worked on the Carbs.. It still sticks but not nearly as bad and I have only burned thru 1/2 a tank so far since adding it.. I suspect that by the time I finish the tank that one carb issue will go away.. So thanks for the tip!

4-1 was stock for the F's. i believe 4-4 was stock for K models. but i'm not a K guy, so i may be wrong.

Yep.....4-1 was on the "F" models.  "K" models had 4-4.

My pipes are okay.....my right muffler has two holes rusted through the baffle....each one the size of a dime.  I will attempt to patch them....although I wouldn't mind a nice 4-1.

hmmm......not sure.....#4 head tube has some scratches and SMALL dents in the bottom from the PO taking it offroad or something.  No enough to inhibit flow at all.....but.....they are not perfect.  Also #2 where the headpipe fits into the muffler.....the pipe broke off inside, and I only have about 1inch of the headtube fitted in the muffler....so it'll eventually have to be welded tot he muffler to make it perfect.

So, welding on #2, and replacement headtube on #4, weld up 2 rust through spots in right baffle and then sandblast and paint BBQ black and they are perfect.

In short....no one will want these I imagine.

Been thinking about a MAC....but if I must, I'll get by with these until I find a pipe I want.

Sure would be nice to get a REAL Yoshi pipe. :-\

Well mine are not in great shape either. The headers were very rusted, to the point that I had to scrap them and paint them... That is why they are black, they were chrome to start with. So mine are not that great either.. I would trade, those would give me the clearance I am needing since I lowered the back and all.

Maybe we should talk via P.M......If you really "need them".....I am going to patch the holes and see where they lead, but really have no love for them....they DO need work. :-\

If you think of some thing let me know.. It would at the very least give me a starting point..

well if you really don't like the Mac ...you don't have too many options as far as aftermarket ..   maybe the drags are the way to go ..   after staring at the pics of your ride , i see your headers don't hug the frame as close as mine (odd, since they are the same)

this is a trigger only you can pull my friend

Ok well I have a few days CycleX has 4 of them up on ebay so I am watching them and will be alerted if some one buys one or if time is running out. Spikey has me thinking. So maybe its time to email Carpy, he was very helpful the few times I emailed him (before I found this place) and see what he has for a 550 I know he makes his own pipes and I like them so..

Odd that they don't hug the frame, that is the one thing that is bothering me, the other is the clearance..

I wouldn't blame her one bit with you in drag...that's just too far Scott!

Oh, drag pipes... ;)

It's a monster chunk of change to be dropping on something you might not like. Time to hit some bike shows or rides where different pipes are present on a 4 banger so you can hear what a drag pipe sounds like.

What don't you like about the 4-in-1 pipe?

A can muffler will sound very different from a megaphone and a reverse cone megaphone will sound different again...

I think your header pipes with a Megaphone exhaust might be more what you are after?
Mac offers them...

Sell your Mac system if you find you like it better.

or might wanna try taking the baffle out as well ...made mine a whole new experience (uber loud)

i didn't even realize they were cyclex  ... you could use it as an excuse to check out his shop ;D ;D ;D ;D   ,  "SUPPORT LOCAL"

(carpy's pipes are always nice, but i know for a fact that if you want something for the 550 it'll have to be custom ...then you'll find yourself paying through the nose ...to him anyway)

So I see where he priced one of his exhausts for a 550 at $700, that is too steep for me no matter how much I like Carpy's exhaust. I am sure they are worth it.. I just don't have it.

I love the way the drag pipe's sound David, however I don't believe I have heard them on any thing smaller then a 750.. so not sure if I would like the sound on a 550..

I tried to take out the baffle however it wont come out, its pretty stuck in there.. I may try it again.

If I do get the drag pipes (big if), I would have to do some thing to quiet them down a little, as my block would be after me like crazy..

Ah.. stuff that makes you go hum..
