putting it back in is waaaay easier then taking it out too
Cool, sounds like a deal.. I would (just for the heck of it if for no other reason) like to hear it with the guys removed..

Stay with the MAC you have, Scott.  Drags are a chopper thing, and they have ZERO backpressure, which you motor needs.  These little 550's need all the power they can muster....there is no "extra" to give away.

Play around with the baffling to get the sound you want.  BBQ grill paint is cheap and works.

Save your dough, keep the wifey happy, and stay put.

Yea, I agree however the 4 into 1 is gone as soon as I (or spikey) find what I am looking for. The headers on this bike are too low and don't hug the frame as I would like. As far as the back pressure is concerned I can find away around that some how.. Still in the planning stage.
The fact you don't expect to see them on a bike like mine just maybe the reason I like em, not sure tho like I said, its all planing at this stage. I do want to get what I want, so I can move on to the brake lines etc.. The exhaust is the priciest thing so want to knock it out.

I had them on my sporster bobber I built.  ZERO back pressure, and most are cheaply made with chrome plating over metal that was rough when they plated it.  Drags are usually made on the cheap....I'll never forget....the set I got came with a sticker on them that said "Made in Pakistan". :-\

I have a set of drags i think im going to put  on my 76. I have run straight headers and that worked fine so the drags cant be any worse.

Take some baseline performance readings on your bike before you switch over to them.
0-60 & 1/4 mile or similar...

Take your favorite corner at 20 and then step on it to see how long to get to 55 or similar...
distance works as well.

Then you have a better comparison for the drag pipes...

Say good bye to your hearing...

Ok will do. Right now I am working with my wife to see if I can even afford to do it. It may have to be put off for a while. However, I bet it wont be nearly as loud as my friends HD with no mufflers that rides with me most of the time. Plus I ware ear plugs that soften the noise. I ride with out a helmet most of the time and if I did not do some thing the wind would kill my ears before the exhaust..

that happens to me too. I have a pudding bowl, and my ears fill with blood if I forget to put ear plugs in.

Sucks, how money (or lack thereof) puts the binders on our projects.  :'(

Well, at least you're riding the Penguin, and enjoying it. All will come in time!
It's easier to ask forgiveness than to gain permission.
