Dang, on my way home tonight (around 7:30pm more or less) I saw so many cafe's in fact I saw one Silver CB550 about the same year as mine, cafe'd and it had a side car.. First 500/550 I have seen with a side car.. Cool. Also lots of other's 2 strokes etc.. I also saw one pickup with two cafe's in the back pulling into a taco bell..Man I wish I could have gone to Rockerbox this weekend... Oh well next year I hope.

Thanks.. I love it. Its my baby. I am working to get the GS1000 running so I can really dress up the 550 the way I wanted to before I just don't want to be with out a bike for too long. I am thinking, progressive cam, better carbs maybe even a 555 big bore kit..

Thanks FunJimmy, its a work in progress. As far as I can tell its a head gasket leak and a new one is the only remedy, I tried tightening down the head bolts but it did not help. The good part is the oil really only starts to leak at 55+mph and its more of a ooze then a leak. So I clean the left side of the motor after a long hard ride and she is good again.

A rebuild is coming its just going to have to wait for now.

mind the o ring on the left side head gasket area. Mine was leaking there, I thought it was the head gasket. I got the whole kit so I also replaced the orings but it still leaked there. I measured the difference between the left and right side oring cut outs in the cylinder block and sure enough the left one was slightly deeper enough that the left side leaked even when tightened down. The fix ended up being a larger oring that I had to cut a slight counter sink to fit in but it did the trick. Just thought I would mention it just in case so you don't have to chase your tail as much as I did.

Thanks Little_Horse, great advice. I will make sure to mention it to whom ever does end up doing my motor work. I just don't have the tools, or the room or the time to do it my self, not to mention the skills. By the time I invested in all the stuff I would need it would cost the same to have some one else do it. I just need to get the motor out of the frame, that is the easy part I have done it before. However I will have to do the electrical my self, the wire harness needs to be replaced its really bad.

So I have to put planned upgrades to the bike on hold for a month. My Blazer finally bit the dust and I had to go get a new car. So we are tapped for a month or so.. Its not the 4X4 I am used to however it will do for now anyway.

Funny so did my brother, it was just after he got out of Highschool, he washed car's did light wrenching etc..

Small world.. I wanted another blazer however it was not in the cards for now.

So I was visiting my brother (he lives 8 hours away) so while I was there I took his R6 for a ride.. Big deal huh.. until you realize it was just 16 degree's out side at the time! To add to the mix, he changed it so the shift pattern is 1 up and the rest down.. Man I love that bike, get it around 10k rpm's and she just wakes up and wants to fly.. Great 600.. Too bad I could not ride in the position for very long with my back..

So last week my little brother (shown in the video) died. A real bummer. Gonna miss him greatly. I was going thru some of its belongings and came across a few keepers, including the book below and some scale diecast metal drag bikes (4 different ones) so I brought them home. He has more books from his time at Honda as a mechanic so I will go thru them another time. He was a great guy and one hell of a bike mechanic.

Thanks all.. It's rather tough given that my Mom and Dad found him. My Dad went to his house and saw his bike and stuff but did not see him so he went home to get the key to my brothers house. Fast forward an hour and he came back to my brothers place only to find him on the front porch dead. He was there the fist time my dad was there, he just never looked on the front porch. Its a #$%*.. Anyway.. Thanks for the condolences..
