valve adjustment

In the service manual it says to turn the motor clockwise when positioning the valves for adjustment.  I always have to think of strange questions, so what happens if it is turned counter clockwise?

Actually you wind up with the slack on the wrong side of the  cam chain and the cam may not be in the position you think it should be.

If you turn it backwards enough will it undo all the wear and damage that's been done over the life of the bike and you'll end up with a brand new motor? ;D

Thanks guys.  I think that answers my question.  I'll begin tonight turning the motor in reverse and by some time next year it will be new again.
