Engine paint similar to a cars mag wheel paint
« on: December 15, 2009, 05:30:30 AM »
Hi guys

I got a guy round the corner from where i work who "re-furbishes" nicks and scratches on Mag wheels.
The finish looks good, aluminum color, then gloss coated. (I will try for lustre)
Something along these lines

When i asked him about doing an engine and the engine temps he said it would be no problem as the mags heat up as well.

He would do my whole engine for about 30 bucks.

Anybody been down this road, is the guy taking rubbish? ??? ???.

There's quite a bit of heat built up during braking, the wheels are sure to heat up a good amount.

Ask him what temp it will withstand.

Engine enamel paint is usually good to 500 degrees.

30 bucks is a steal if it holds up.
