Hi Frank

Do you have any more of the frame kits left? If so could you kindly let me know how much and the shipping costs to Sydney, Australia.

Cheers

I was trying to work out how to get these on with out sand back heaps of the powder coating.

So what ended up working is putting one clamp bolt in from the back of the thread and a small piece of steel in the gap so it spreads the clamp.

Can you mic the diameter of the frame with the powder on it.
At first I thought. I would have to bore a few set to a bigger diameter, but so far nobody requested that. . I think most just sanded. A bit off.
In the early days of powder it was quite thick. Seems these days it tends to be thinner.

Am working on a new batch of frame kits should be ready in about 10 days.
Also have a new tool in the works, should be ready in a week. Will be handy on most sohc 4 models and many more Hondas.

Sorry this took so long, I measured 2, one of which had a slight bulge at the end of the tube. Must of been the way is was hung when it was coated, the measurement I have is after I have sanded it down a fair bit.

That looks like quite  a lot of buildup...probably 4- 6 thou more would have to come off. .

I would of thought that so long as the frame and cut out are the same then would not matter too much. But are saying that it needs to be close to the original size. Would this be to prevent future fatigue of the clamp.

Not. Sure if this answers you, if you spread it as you described it should not hurt anything at that size shown..as long as you don't have to hammer it to move it in place.
Ideal though and easier, if. You get it down to size where it will slide back and forth. If you were removing it often that would make a difference.

Exactly and you'll be thankful when you go to put the last one on. Just get a 25mm wide length of emery paper about 120 grade, wrap it over the tube and pull it back n forth working your way around the tube, it takes no time at all. You want them to slide freely.

I used valve lapping compound between the clamps and frame for fine adjustment. No paint on the frame under the clamps. Need more sanding for rust protective paint layer to stay intact when its  tight. Bike in warm garage should not make rust possible

I have removed the top frame several times this year, head lifted for service, cam timed several times and cam changed. Will soon change cam again. Plan to compare 3 different cams and Dyno test them.

Change cam is not fun without frame kit... :(
soo much work including draining oil, oil filter and exhaust and carbs and oil tank/hoses off. All bolts and wires, electrical and mechanical. Plus scratch paint, fingers, get the engine on my fot, body (spine) damage when lifting the engine up to the bench.... be home sick recovering cost some $$ too..

Hey guys,

I bought one of the weldless frame kits. It's beautifully made, but I don't actually need it anymore. I ended up pulling my motor out anyway, and the bike I bought it for is slated to be sold in spring anyway, so no point in installing it now.

If anyone would like to buy mine from me while Frank makes his next batch, send me a PM. It's brand new, in the box.

My frame cuts for frame mod fits Mikuni TMR32 with KN filters very well too!

I installed the frame mod for Mikuni VM29 smoothbores
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,62832.msg1515860.html#msg1515860

With this frame mod I have lifted the head once changing cyl studs and left head for for seat and valve job to the same guy that ported it for over 30 years ago. Changed cams 3 times and re-timed one of the cams one extra time. Plus fix threads on head holding the cam. All work with engine in frame!! Fantastic!!

Change cam with exhaust and carbs still on without draining oil too... soo much work I do not need to suffer!

Honda made a big mistake back in the 60's. They should have constructed a removable frame part so even the CB750 purists can do the service under the valve cover without pulling the engine!!
