Cam sprocket
« on: December 14, 2009, 08:40:54 PM »
I was curious after reading some of the threads on cams lately, so I pulled the cover on one of my extra motors...I have only been in 2 motors so far but most of the cam sprockets I saw on 750's where solid this one obviously not...Is this common? The motor is a 76 750, the cam is marked R2 and the only other 750 cam I have seen(other than pics on here) was my 73 with the cam marked R9..Anyway I was just curious..Thanks

I've seen solid ones and "ventilated" ones although the pattern of holes was different than yours.  ?!

What are the numbers on your motor? Fish shows holes on older 70's--77+

Yes, Honda started using a lighter weight cam sprocket later in the 750 engine's evolution.

Morning/afternoon all (snowing here in Kent UK). In my Haynes manual (#131) it shows a solid cam sprocket when they pull apart an early K model. But on my 1978 750F2 I had a drilled/lightened version. When I wanted to degree in my reprofiled 'lumpy' cam I bought a solid early version so that the mount holes could be elongated. I havn't got the part to hand so's to state any numbers from it, but when I get a chance i'll do so.
