Greetings from the Chicago area!

Bike looks nice, very clean!  What are your plans for it?

Thanks. its going to be cafe with some special touches. I fortunatly work as a designer for Polaris so I have some vast resources to work with as far as paint , graphics mechanical etc. Im doing the rendering of what the bike is going to look like when finished so ill post it when im finished and it should be up for sale come spring "10".

Teardown update 12/6/09 1978 cb550four in Minneapolis
« Reply #3 on: December 06, 2009, 10:56:35 PM »
Day 2 of teardown... for a bike this old things are comming off very easily. Had the compression test today 12/6 and all is good. Carbs are out and being rebuilt now. So i want to have the engine and electrical pulled by Wednesday 12/9. here are the pics from day 1 and 2. the green tape on the third image indicates the now useless steel i have found so far on the bike which will be cut off and surfaced befor powdercoat.
Cheers,
B

rearsets setup!
« Reply #9 on: December 19, 2009, 04:39:17 PM »
Day five...so I was debating on clamps for rearsets this week and decided against it. Here is what I decided to do. I didnt like the position of having the rearsets all the way back to the passenger pegs. After cutting the rear peg mounts off I decided to recycle them. In these pics youl see I removed 3.5" from the bottom attachment point then that guided the top cut line at proper angle. All in all about 2.5 hours of work. This is just to show how I did it not wrong or right just another option.
Cheers,
B

Looks good!

Why do you want to build it...then sell it right away?
