It's coming in tomorrow! I already know of several things that have to be addressed:

1. Seat is torn; what other model fit?
2. Kickstart lever is missing; does a CL kickstart lever work?
3. Headlight ears are bent; again, interchangable with CL? Bend back w/out trashing paint?
4. Missing one mirror; I have a spare set from my 550.
5. Missing rear grab-bar.
6. Tank has one small dent from the blinker; ugh, this may stay for a while, it's small.

There's stuff available on e-bay for CB175's, but there's also stuff for other 175's. How interchangable are they for the items above? I see lots of CL175 stuff, also CD, XL, CA, SS, CD, my head is spinning with acronyms.

In most cases, the differences between the CB & the Cl are minimal (Exhaust system,
Front fender, (sometimes) Gas Tank shape, Type of Tires and There may be more but, not
much. The kickstarter, headlight ears, (maybe) seat and blinkers, for sure, will be interchangeable.
Actually, the blinkers should be the same for most any around the same year of yours. Maybe
someone else can shed some light on this also. I will try to do some checking also. Hope that

I bought a CB175 taillight and it is the same than the CB350, except for a small rubber adapter -because the CB175 mudguard is narrower, so it is necessary to addapt the tailight curve.

I have my CB350 stripped down and everything pictured, so if you need to check out any part just send me a message and I will send you pictures and dimensions.

Thanks guys, and it's a 1969. Got it in the fold this morning, PO dropped it off for another $10.

Once he left, I flipped the key and got a resounding 'click'. Pulled out the deep cell battery from my trailer, jumped it and...it ROARED to life. I say roared because the left muffler is for decoration only. The entire bottom is rotted out. BUT IT RAN! I drove it around the block; coughing & sputtering, puking gas out one of the tubes, loud as hell. Damn, it felt good. I got a new project to play with.

I definitely need a seat, or at least foam & cover. The front headlight ears are all bent up, looking for a new set (some CL's up on e-bay, hmmmmm). Also a new rear grab bar - or minimally the damn bolts as they're the same ones that hold the rear seat bracket to the frame.

There's more rust and it's a little rattier than the pics showed, but what do you want for $100. Mostly tune-up & aesthetic issues. Yahoo!!

Looks like you've got a pretty good start there. I'll let you know what I find out. Like I said before though, the CL is almost identical. I've got CB450s and a CL450 and there's alot that will interchange

I'm not real interested in a perfect resto, just making it ride-able & presentable. I've no problem with a CB/CL Frankenbike, as long as the parts actually fit.

Actually, its a K5.....that first number after the "CB175-".....shows the "K" model series.

Looks like its a 1971....based on that frame number, which makes sense with the manufacture date.

Huh? It looks to me that the K4 frame no's start at 5000001 and go up from there. BTW, the engine no is: CB175E-50124?? (can't see the last two numbers from my picture). Where did you get K5; I don't see in the the list?

Does anyone actually have a CB175? I need a kickstart lever and there's several different looking ones out there. I found a picture of a CL175 showing the kickstarter. Looks akward, doesn't seem to have the hinge at the spline mount. Does the foot lever rotate? I can't imaging it always sticks out there.

Yep.....i've got a 1973 CB175, which is used as a race bike. I have a spare kicker around here somewhere.....in good shape. I dont need it and if I can find it......i'll shoot you a PM.

Also....the CL exhaust will work on the CB...but you need all those little brackets at the shocks and I think there is another that clamps to the frame at the airbox.

As far as the "K" model of the bikes. Most of these early CB Hondas use this type of serial number identification....the first number after the dash identifies the "K" series. I know for a fact this is the case on the CB175s & CB350s. Not sure where those numbers in your photo are coming from. Just did some checking with my factory Honda online fiche and its showing the "K5" with your year and serial numbers.

If you need any factory OEM Honda parts....feel free to drop me a note thru my website and I can give you a price quote. As long as its not discontinued....I can get it.

I got the picture from a service manual selling on-line somewhere, pic was posted to make sure your bike was covered. Besides a major clean-up and tune-up, I know I need to address:

-seat
-headlight ears
-headlight bucket
-kicker
-rear grab bar

I found a whole front-end from a CL, and wonder if this may be an answer to the bend stuff on mine. I don't think the forks are bent, but the ear is pretty bad and the whack may have been enough to mess something up in front. I'm thinking it may be safer to just toss on a whole set of forks rather than mess with a possible slight bend. Besides, I like the look of the shock boots.

Yes......those are stock...and very hard to find. I am using mine on my CR350 Cafe Racer, since my race bike uses a 1/4 turn throttle.......no kill switch make the bars look really clean and nice.
