New Project NEGLECTED 1976 Honda CB750
« on: December 18, 2009, 12:16:31 PM »
Finally, I have been sold this bike. I have tried for two years to get this bike from an automotive shop where it sat outside. The previous owner took it to the shop in hopes of a starter rebuild. The mechanic said he would only work on the starter if it was removed. The owner decided not to ever come back. No rust in tank and clean oil in resevoir. I have not tried to kick it over unsure if the rings have rusted to walls. I did put gentle psi on the kicker and it was not froze. Tires are #$%* as well as the fairing and trunk. I have no keys which doesnt matter since the wiring is #$%* as well. Looking to build a cafe, although I do like a clean bobber. I have a 74cb550 but have been advised by every one to leave it since it has the original paint, minus one side cover, because some #$%* decided to run it over when it blew off. If anyone has a sunrise orange let me know, ie battery side. This is a budget build. Total so far:
150 for bike
3 for marvel mystery a tablespoon in each cylinder.

No they suck and are poorly constructed. I tore the trunk and windshield off to make room in my cargo van. It was pouring rain and the guys at the shop helped me only get it out of their pen. A friend said he was going to put them on a fourtrax 300.

A few years ago I bought a 750 that looked just like that. I was a little over zealous since I lived in an APT and had nowhere to work on it. I ended up selling it and now finally bought a 550 to bobber out. Wish I would have kept that bike! Way easier to find frames and stuff got a 750. I have a side cover, but the PO sprayed it black, what a dumbass!

I walked on a 1981 CB 900 It had a set of those on it, just added to the problem of fixing the bike, lots of parts missing for a stock non bagger bike.

Great price for it.

A careful compression test will tell you a lot, My new project is a 75F0 that laid on its side for years, crankshaft/pistons/and valves run free & smooth, rear wheel is frozen solid in its brake.

Nice find for $150.  I suppose you'll be keeping that cassette player radio for your cafe, or is it an 8 track? ;D

It looks like there might be a nice bike under all that Cr@p.

What does it look like without the bags and sheild?

Post a pic or two with that stuff gone.
