« on: December 17, 2009, 07:25:24 AM »
I encourage everyone to read the 4 parts of this story:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8414665.stm

Click on the tabs at the top or the links at the bottom:

Part 1: An otherwise ordinary day

Part 2: Immediate response

Part 3: The agony message

Part 4: The aftermath

There is also an audio slideshow.

Ride safe,
Andy

It reminds me how unjust the justice system in that and other countries really is. Ours is not much better. The main thing is how fast your or your families lives can change. It only takes a second and viola.... the whole world is turned upside down. Life will never be the same again.

Jeeze Andy, When I saw the header and your post, I thought it was you. I don't have time right now to check out the link, but I'm glad there's no personal anecdote here.
Best,
Ben

After reading the posts, I think I'll pass.
I'm depressed enough already.  I'm doing a pretty good job of avoiding politics and the news in general, as a matter of fact.

After nearly hitting a black bear 1/2 mile from my house just now (7pm), I think about all the nights I have ridden on this road at speeds over 50mph on the bike. Lucky tonight I was in my car with the studded tires.
No, I didn't hit it, well not hard anyways, more like a love tap.  ::)
peace,
michel

Mine was 1 block and 10 houses from my home. 35mph(me) and 15 mph(them) = two torn maniscus, torn acl, and a future knee replacement. The story hit too close to home here. Could happen to anyone anytime anywhere.

makes me realize how lucky i am to be here, and able to move and use all my parts (for the most part) still. for those that didnt know, i had my neck badly broken in 2007 from a bad fall. this is one of the days i feel lucky, after reading that article
