I kind of like #1....

It reminded me of a pic of Hunter S. Thompson when he was running for Sheriff in Aspen Co.

Otherwise any pic of a dog in a hat is good in my book.

I am sure it would not be that pretty.  ;)

Ok guys, really is #3 good? I like it better than #1 just because it is not part of stock image stuff.

Pretty nice. Only thought I have is the additional image detail seems to draw attention away from the text. Perhaps the text needs a different, more stand-out color to compete better.

Bad-ass indeed!  Nice work!  But Im with Bob on changing the text to match it.  Keep that Anubis but lose just a bit of detail then try something different with the text.  I would say no overlap, I think thats were the clashing mostly is.  Mabey make the text more angular and sharp to match the hard lines of anubius.  Or perhaps some type of shadow effect to make them stand out more.  The name has to grab youre attention.  Do you do other types of art besides graphic design?

With all good intentions how about using your web name initials with your designated logo, sounds good when you say it fast...

  AC/ RC/ IC / UC

 Anubis Cycle
 Re Cycle
 Import Cycle
 Used Cycle Parts

or any combination of the above

I agree on all levels Metalhead. I am going to try to clean up the logo just a bit and post the tweaks here. You guys have been great with your input. And yes I do draw by hand but have not in quite awhile. Used to do D&D/Brom/Tattoo type stuff. I guess there is just no better way to put it. For reference guys I am using Adobe Illustrator 9 and AAA logo (works real nice when you are working out the rough stuff before the image has to be drawn in Illustrator) for the rough ins. Eventually the text will have to be redone in Illustrator so it can be cut out in vinyl or be turned into a stiching pattern for embriodery.

When starting out people get lost on a company name. While agree the initials sound cool and will problably be how people refer to it later right now I think the full name is important. You see after lots of years of marketing, we know what the Pepsi logo looks like and know that it is Pepsi even if it is not spelled out. I could only hope to have that sucess but you see my design is too intricate alrady for that, o well.  :D

Hey ElCheapo, ever seen this:

http://therionweb.de/

Broms work is absolutely amazing!  90% of my art is along the same lines as you describe.  Dark, bad-ass stuff with lots of implied motion or just characters in cool looking poses.  Ive kinda slacked off lately and have been more into music this winter...since it sucks to work on stuff when its cold.

I like this last one very much. When I hold my finger up to the screen to get rid of his little goatee, I like him better.  Might experiment with putting him in a circle, perhaps the tips of his ear and nose extending past the edge, then the lettering could go around the circle.  Perhaps experiment with a pseudo-hiroglyphic type style.  A "contained" entity like that would make great patches and stickers.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Eureka wins hands down..

it looks like an attitude - not really scary - maybe more like  - "I take no Crap" - stern look etc..

I like it whole bunches  ;D. There will be minor tweaking after this point but nothing serious, it will stay like the final one for the most part.

Thanks for everyone who participated in helping me churn the creative juices. Applauding everyone on this thread.

Great job on that last one!!
Looks almost 3 dimensional with the shading and the lettering fits with the theme. 8)
