Harbor freight has a wheel stand like that, and they have adapters so you can use it on the front wheel. That may be an option if the exhaust is in the way.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

Harper, in most cases the stock center stand can be fitted w/ four into 1's with just stand & collar. next opt would be 'rear stand" then  a "front wheel block" located on a 2x4 "cross" and secured w/ tie downs. thoughts.G

+1 - I use this method when I have the left-side exhaust off the K2.

Slightly off topic. Did any of you had to weld on the center stand? Some years ago, totally unexpected my bike fell over. I was shocked. Turned out center stand was broken due to metal fatigue. A friend welded it for me.

Beautiful, thanks everyone

I went out to the shed today (yes it's a shed. Hay bales in there four months ago) and drained the carbs and tried some of these methods out.

I tried ratcheting to the rafters, but I didn't do it right, and the bike felt unstable
Eventually, I did what Don R suggested, (I think, I'm so new at this that half these comments went over my head, but..) and I removed the final baffle section of the exhaust and the center stand fit right in. I didn't bother to install the spring because I'll just have to take it off in the spring anyway (Ha, no pun intended). So it's looking nice and vertical.

Thanks Everybody

Harper

Still think I'll get a lift or rearstand for work..

It may feel a little unstable with this technique... but, if secured correctly and unable to roll back and forth, it will not go anywhere.
I like jack stands under both pegs if I have them nearby.

yeah, jack stands would have helped..
I only had one though, and couldn't get wood secure under the other side

Harper,

Make sure you block the front wheel from moving forward, so the the bike will stay on the stand.

I used to restore my bikes in my Condor stand. I've seen good copies of this stand going for less than $50 -

Here you go - Harbor Freight has them for $59 right now. I've seen them cheaper, but can't remember when/when. This at $59 is a good deal. I paid almost $250 with shipping for the Condor, but that was before everyone else started making them.

Seems like a logical thread for this post...

Bought this stand from Harbor Freight for $49 plus the swingarm adapter for $10.  I am really happy with it because it is lightweight, condensed, and silver!

I think you're right mycb750k6, it wouldn't fit,  but if you had 4-4s why not keep your orig. center stand?

A bit cheesy, but it works well enough:  I screwed a large eye-hook into a stud on either side of my garage.  When I want to work on the bike I loop a tie-down strap through each eye-hook and the corresponding fork of the bike (as near the steering head as possible).  It takes a bit of fiddling, but eventually I get the bike nicely upright, and it is very solidly in place.  I can then lift the rear wheel up with a floor jack, if necessary.

DHolbrook,
I did keep my center stand but to be honest, I'm no longer strong enough to get on it without help. Technique be dammed. I can't do anymore and I don't want to hurt my back trying. Sooo, I bought the Pit Bull with standard configuration. Someone here on the forum showed a picture of one. When I got it, it barely made it past the chain adjuster screws and was very unsturdy. I complained to Pit Bull and they send me an extension at no charge for the 750. No I love it. But to be honest, a lot of the time I will jack it up with the Pit Bull and  then put the center stand because it can rub the chain. Here's a so-so picture.
I still think yours is cool looking. Not cheezy at all. Kinda space age.

Those are the standard adapters that come with that pitbull stand?  I may have found a good stand for my 550F.  It's got the 4-1, and the muffler almost goes right beside the swingarm.
