Well as exalted as I was about winning this seat yesterday, I had my reservations about the seller, so to make sure we were "both on the same sheet of music", I weighed the seat it will be replacing, and my kitchen sacales told me that it was 7 pounds. I relayed this to the seller, and this was the reply I got from him this morning:

"The seat, properly packaged, weighs approximately 20 pounds and will be shipped via USPS. I quoted another gentleman from Australia and it will be about $98 for air or $45 for surface (without insurance) plus the $4 handling charge. Please send me your correct shipping address, as requested earlier, so I can calculate correctly and prepare your invoice. Thank you."

Once again, "no names/no pack drill", but it really bugs my ass that he obviously isn't happy with my winning bid, (even though I won the auction by bidding more than anyone else) so he's apparently loading the shipping? Hmmmnnn........ It is a nice seat though, Junkie put me on to it, here's the link:

Hey nice seat mate, I had one like that a couple of years ago, and I sold it on Ebay as I wanted a seat for my K2, ha ha! Oh well....... Hey I got a nice chrome seat  latch for my K1 frame, but I still need the hook and spring thingie that mounts on the seat base? Have you got one, or know where I can get one mate? Cheers, Terry.

i've got an old scratcher on the original K/Q seat...i haven't looked too closely at it to see what shape it's in...

i'll take a look for ya though - will be in the shop with her for my four day weekend!

    The USPS site shows $61 for a 10lb package(global express). A little less for Parcel Post. Box and packing material do add weight but I can't imagine what he's using that would weigh 13 lbs. Granted, it can be a pain to find the right box, get packing material, and stand in the holiday line at the post office But if a seller feels they need compensation for this, I believe they should put a "handling fee" in their auctions "shipping details".

      I've "dickered" with sellers about shipping costs before. On one occasion I was dead wrong, after a few terse emails I decided to pay his price anyway and when the box arrived it showed that he had actually paid a few bucks more than what I had paid. I now believe that not EVERY seller is trying to make a dishonest buck when they quote high shipping costs.

    Ask him if he's willing to refund the difference if it's over,say, $5 of his quoted cost. If ya pay $90 and the box says$60 when you receive it AND he doesn't honor the deal, then you have my approval to leave NEGATIVE(shudder) feedback....... "This Asshat gouges shipping,packed with toilet paper,part was junk.BEWARE!!!!!!!"

y'know...this guy's not all bad - i emailed him a couple of times...his big mistake was false advert. he mis-identified the seat as a '71 in the title so searches for '71's (like mine) picked it up, but were then foiled.

nobody searching specifically for a '72 could find it.

it's a fine seat and it's his own damn fault for not being more careful - if he wasn't a scab he could easily have identified the seat correctly by the stitching - that's how i figured it out...

a lookout to us all, i guess...

G'Day Gordy, I agree, but I was pretty confidant (unusual for me, I know ) because he stated that he charges actual shipping rates, and uses USPS, so I checked the USPS site, and they quote 40 bucks for 7 pounds for airmail! Hmmmnnnn......... Cheers, Terry.

I think he is stabbing you in the face. I always stab back  . Always carry a bigger stick than your oponnent and make sure of which way you have the pointy end.

Terry you and I know the seat can not possibly weigh 20 Mutha Freak'in pounds. Not when your seat weighs 7 lbs unpacked. Besides, just what the heck kind of padding do you need when shipping a seat anyway? A seat, even internationally can be shipped with next to no padding. I have packed them with the box dead up against the seat on all sides and had no problems. The only way the seat can get damaged is by stupidity. Like someone running it over with a damn forklift. Your package should weigh no more than 10lbs period. I can not think of a legitimate way to make the box weigh in at 20 backstabbing pounds no matter how I pack it (BTW I just tried one with my old K5 seat and weighed it, I got it right about 9 1/2 pounds). Unless he is adding rocks to bring up the weight  .

Terry, you could have him ship it to me because he is in the same state as me. Then we can work out legit shipping costs and tuck some of your other small parts in with it. Let me know mate. #$%* he's close enough that I could even go pick the darn thing up for you. 

Speaking of little pieces, I tried out the new sandblaster and your tool tray came out so nice you would swear that it is N.O.S.    Damn that thing is fun.

I shipped a perfect CB350k4 seat to a guy last spring.....from Ohio to Iowa. Just found my reciept:

DHL Ground
Scale WGT: 11.06(That was with a box that was way too big...and tons of stryofoam)
Total: $13.45

I think the poor ole dude is pull'n a fast one!

Well it's not much of an update I'm sorry to say, I paid the guy with $22.00 shipping to Sean in Oakland, then when Tom was kind enough to offer to ship I emailed him again to ask him if he'd send it to Tom instead, but so dar, no reply? Oh well, I guess i'll just have to wait and see where it eventually lands, ha ha! Cheers, Terry.

Ok I recieved Terry's seat today. The guy was not all that far off on his shipping weight. When all was said and done the seat weighs 11#  The package while billed for #20 was more like #14. I think 3 lbs in packing which comprised of misc. beer case cartons, plastic bubble wrap (tiny bubble), and foam peanuts. Ok was it packed well? Yea for a domestic shipping. The box was one of those extra heavy duty stapled shut ones the ship stuff out of China. Now dont get me wrong, they are tough stuff. They have a tendecy to collect moisture quickly and add to thier weight aside form the fact that the box sides more than 1/8 inch at the thinest parts of the box.

I will have the shipping totals tommorow.

Also the punctures dont appear to be "puntures". One of them looks like a cigarette burn. Niether here no there, there are products out there that make repairing these easy. Would take about 15 mintues total. In one section of the chrome trim part of the upper chrome layer is peeling up?

Thanks Tom, I appreciate your help mate, and if you (or any of you other guys) can suggest a product to repair those "blemishes" I'd appreciate it too, those sorts of products are pretty "skinny" here in Oz? Cheers, Terry.

Terry I use this AS SEEN ON TV product. Not a bad deal. I think I paid a whole $35 for the kit and it does cloth and vinyl.
