Got some work done today.

Started with this tool.....



Got my loose spokes in the rear tightened all up

Then I finished up the fork sliders







Added my valve cover breather



And I finished cleaning up the bike.  It's all done, except for my new fuel spigot I am waiting on, and some electrical tracing....you can see how the motor turned out, as well as the frame.  Sticking floats (3)....I'll figure out later









Then I started on my kicker.  I took the mounting point  "f" kicker I bought from Spikeybike, and by using it to hold on to the splined shaft, I was able to figure out that my "k" kicker would work if I welded it to the f "bracket"...thereby spacing it out enough to clear the rearsets, yet still fold in.





I am first going to try this....



here it is curing



If it dosen't hold, then I will have it MIG welded.....being thast these are cast parts...you have to find a welder that knows how to weld cast pieces......who knows?  Maybe the JB weld will hold!

When I was all done and came inside, I found this in the mail



Western Hills Honda is sooo good about getting stuff to me quick....I'm not used to being treated that well anymore. :-\

the JB weld probably won't hold  :(. Cast isn't too hard to weld its hard to make it look pretty and strong again...

Yeah, there are some people that swear by JB Weld...but I've never been a huge fan for anything more than a quick spot repair.  I'm fairly certain that a particularly load-bearing spot like a kick-starting lever would snap.

Well let us know how it turns out. Your bike sure is looking awesome.. Make sure when all is said and done, post some good pictures of it out in the sun light so we all get a good view so we can drool all over the place and our women will think we are watching porn..lol

Well, I got the head stud in....went very easy.  I hit the end of the broken stud with my ball peen hammer to "shock" the threads, then clamped on some vise grips and pulled.....came loose, and then worked it out with channel lock pliers.  screwed in the new one, and re-installed number 4 head tube......too easy! ;)

Pulled my seat shell off and started looking at the wiring......it has occurred to me, that a custom wiring harness is the way to go.  I have custom wired a bike before, so I will start figuring out how to go about it.  I am jsut plain sick and tired of looking at and dealing with this crappy old original harness.  I'll do a VERY bare bones setup.

So....I'll work on that, in addition to un-plugging my floats, and then she SHOULD be done.

Oh, I bidded on a 750 K2....but I know I won't win.

Anyhow, that was Sunday.

More productive then mine, I started up working on the bike then a call from the Brother inLaw about a computer issue took me off it until about an hour ago.. Now back to it but its late not sure what I will get done.

Hats off to you Joe for tackling that wiring issue, mine is the same way but I am going to try and put it off till next fall..

Thanks.  I am below the reserve, but am the highest bidder.  Only way I get this is if he lowers the reserve.  I offered the max it is worth to me.  If I won, it would just get stored away until later, and replace any non-stock parts for original stuff.  I would want it 100% stock.  Again, I plan to watch it walk away to another home. :-\

maybe if you used a bolt. drill a hole through the hump part that has a bolt in it now, but going the other way. so the head of the bolt is facing out and you would use a nut inside the pocket on the other piece.

too hard to explain so I drew on your pic. couldn't resist the graffiti.  ;)

Yeah, I'll have to look at it some more....thanks for the idea.  I put it on there as I had it, and as soon as my boot touched it, it fell off :D.....so it went to the back burner again!

The idea is he can not use the stock one because of the rearset's getting in the way. So he is trying to find a way to make it work. That is why the bottom of one is being stuck on the bottom of the stock one. The links you posted above seem to be stock kickstarters.

if you do use my idea I think you could bolt it together, then remove the other unneeded bolt and fill the extra holes with jb weld or whatev and then paint it... you could just paint the bottom part silver if you want it to be unpainted looking or just touch up the filled areas w/ silver paint.

or cut one of them in half and weld a rod in the middle to lengthen it.

I wanna see yer bike done. I'm a sucker for the alloy stuff.
