Solid State bCharging systrems

I have been dealing with several bikes from the CB650 to the CB750, 1979-82 erea that have battery charging issues.
This is a Combo Reg/Rec unit. The Diodes check fine but the bike won't charge. There are two componants involved in one "black box" We use RICK"S ENTERPRISES for replacements. BUT he offers a seperate VOLTAGE REGULATER that might solve the problem of replacing the entire ASSY rather than the failed componant.
The Rectifier will bench test fine so the problem is in the regulator 1/2 and there seems to be no need to replace the entire assy at almost twice the cost of a regulator.
SOOOOOO, when you guys switch from the mechanical regulator to the solid state units, buy them NEW from RICK as two seperste items so that when they do fail, you can simply replace the failed unit.
I haven't "field tested" this yet but I have a few mules to do some diabolical testing on 8)

Let us know how the mules get on.

If this system is OK, we'll add a link in the General FAQ
