My Messages Inbox question
« on: December 22, 2009, 07:10:15 AM »
I've just noticed that my inbox capacity is full... i didn't know there was such a low capacity. i like to archive my messages but will they be automatically deleted if my inbox is too full?

I took a quick look through the Admin. area for a limit on saved messages, but could not find one, though I'm sure there is one if not by number of messages, perhaps allocated space.

I would be helpful for members to periodically go through and delete unwanted messages. If someone else's PM mailbox is being indicated as full, try sending them an eMail to alert them to do some house cleaning. Not unlike mail systems at the office I suspect, let the box get full and it starts bouncing messages back to the sender.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

But the screenshot posted indicates that the limit is 5 messages (if 7 is 140% full then 5 is 100% full, right?). And the very fact that the box could be 140% full makes it look like the user already had 7 messages when the limit was changed to 5.

I currently have around 50 messages in my inbox and I'm not getting any kind of warning. I suppose it's also possible that the outbox has a ton of messages in it that are counting toward the total allotted space, but that's unlikely in this case.

I have 5 pages of messages (yeah... I'm that popular  ;D).  But all of those messages are just text with the exception of an unedited photo from the Babe thread I had BobbyR send me.   ;)  (Thanks Bobby!)

I suggest you delete the messages with the dirty pictures and it should clear up some space.   ;)

i think there must have been some glitch in the system. at first i had around 30 messages (no pictures or files) in my inbox and i was at around 450% full. after i deleted some i had 7 messages and 140% full. i left it that way and today there is no INBOX FULL message.

still I'm curious as too how much space were allowed until the inbox is full...

i think I've narrowed it down to a single message that must have had a large file embedded. i had forwarded it on to a fellow SOHC4 member and he was having the same problem with a full INBOX. message with the file was deleted and both of us have our PM capabilities back. a heads up, if you notice your inbox is full it might be something in the last message you received.

Yep, just had the same problem. Mine was 180% full, nine messages with no pictures so it appears the one message equals twenty percent theory is holding up. I'll check more often in future.

Neither do I, obviously, or I would have had to thin my messages down, some time back. Not that I don't need to, I just have some messages that I want to hang onto (for memory). I really Do need to thin them out quite a bit though. ::)
