newbie in Indiana
« on: December 22, 2009, 02:00:59 PM »
I am Chris, from South Bend, IN. 37 and my first bike is an old 71 cb500 that was originally "chopped" in the early 70s. The license plate on the bike was from 1980, and it had sat in my Uncle's barn for the last 15-20 years.

As far as I can tell, the engine was freshened, and reinstalled, and then the project was left dormant for many years...
My intentions are to revive the bike in it's current form. 8over coil-over front end, HD tank, mini apes, and a "tri-Bar" sissy bar. I have to clean the bike, and find headlights, tail lights, coils, and build a seat... beyond that, I just want to ride it as it was riden in the 70s..

I will post some pics asap

I look forward to learning alot on here and getting some great feedback

 Thanks,
  Chris

funny how you live in MI and apparently like ND.... while I am stuck in this nole we call IN, and I am a TRUE BLUE UofM fan.... LOL

Kelley should bring some good things to ND and I hope he does well... as long as they lose everytime they play MICHIGAN or PENN STATE...
Beyond that, I wish Coach Kelley well...

Back to why we're all really here..... SOHC4's... LOL

I also got an old Yamaha XS650 from my uncle.... just gonna stock it for next summer and then I want to strech the swing arm, put a slightly wider rear tire, lower the seat and make it kind of a street fighter/crotch rocket style but with some character........ so since there seem to be alot of SOCHers in IN.... can anyone nearby help me revive this old cb500? I am totally new to Jap bikes and am pretty much clueless when it comes to synching the carbs and such.
