« on: December 07, 2009, 03:03:07 PM »
Here is a picture of some of my bike, i got it without an engine, I took it apart cleaning each bit as i took it off then laid out some of the parts just to get some enthusiasm for my new project, today i stripped the brakes apart to find i need new seals pistons , and master cylinder repair kits,  tommorrow i will take the frame, swingarm, stands, battery box and steering yolks to the powder coaters.

Those parts look clean and fairly complete.  Is this for a restoration or cafe project?  Be sure to remove the rubber bits like the shock bushes before you send to the powder coater.

That's a good job mate.
Getting everything cleaned and organised makes the whole project a lot easier.
Good luck with it.
If I was you

Yes the parts are very clean, i will be doing a restoration, and keeping it as original as i can for a standard 78 f2, but it is on a budget i have not got the money to spend out on all new parts, although it wont be a show winner it will be very tidy with a good honest patina which i think is important

I am struggling to find oversized pistons for my F2 , the cost of getting the 836 kit off dynoman then sent over to UK  including tax and fees ~+ the cost of sending my cylinder off and getting it rebored. Has left me thinking , so I took a honing tool to my rusty bores, the result is ok they are still within tolerence but one of them has a discoloured patch from the rust, strangely enough it is smooth and not pitted just sort of black in colour, if you were to close your eyes and feel the cylinders you would not be able to tell, which one had rust . and I am tempted to take the chance using the old pistons with new rings in these bores, I would like to hear if anyone has been in a similar position, and what they did

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Yes i think blue was  standard colour in UK, i think it is the best colour for the F2, but seems to be quite a rare colour for this model
