New guy same old questions.
« on: December 23, 2009, 12:17:41 PM »
Hey guys,
I've just recently acquired a 78 CB750K.  It has about 16,000+ miles & is in good cosmetic condition.  The guy I got it from had the carbs "worked" when he bought it the let it sit in his garage "he says for 3 years but I think it was closer to 6 years, going by the state inspection sticker" The carbs are as expected varnished to the point that nothing will move except the choke butter flies.  The bowels are gunked up pretty bad.  I have never had any luck working on carbs so I will be letting someone else fix them "suggestions welcome" The tank had about 2 gallons of varnish in it that I have flushed out along with about a cup of rust.  The front break caliper was not releasing so I have removed, cleaned, & reassembled it, it appears to be working now.  I have also removed the rear wheel, chain, swing-arm, carbs, air box, seat, rear fender, & seat.  The exhaust is shot & I have been looking at the MAC 4 into 1 "pros - Cons".  I also have a 02 VF750c Magna, 02 CBR1100XX Super Blackbird, 03 XR650L.

Sounds like your off to a good start.  There are a few members that offer carb rebuilding.  Also, do a search for tank cleaning and sealing/coating.

I am thinking of offering carb rebuilding services as well, so keep me in mind if you don't find someone to rebuild, clean, synch and possibly assist in setting them for use with the MACs.
