And I still owe my build thread a video.  It'll have to wait at least a few more days, though.  We're getting rain for the next couple  :-\

Eh hmm, just a friendly reminder  ;D

Hey awesome bike! I have 2 questions.

1 - When you were hanging your engine to paint, it looked like there was some serious bending of the bolts there. Have you noticed any issues/problems with that?

2 - Any way to get a completed shot of your battery/wiring box?

Thanks man, I'm jealous!

Thanks for the compliments!

1 - I think my threaded rod was already bent when I decided to use it for hanging the engine.  I may have bent it while doing my swingarm work, but not certain.  I haven't had any issues, though.  I've seen another forum memeber use the same strategy after seeing it work for me.  It worked to him, too.

2 - I'd be glad to get a pic of the battery box with the wiring.  It's still kind of a mess of wiring.  Once everything worked, I just started riding it and haven't gone back to tidy it up yet.  I'll get a pic for you soon!

Thanks for the nudge  ;D

I'll be attending Mods vs Rockers this weekend, so hopefully I can get some good video then.  I'll at least manage some great photos.  140 people have already registered for the weekend, and there's always an influx right before the event - it's gonna be a big year.  If you're within range of Houston, come check it out!  There will be stuff going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  And if you need a place to crash, hit me up  ;D

Hey Architect,

I just found this thread.  Awesome build!  Do you have more of the guage brackets?  Will they work with clip-ons?  If yes to both I would be interested in polished stainless.

Thanks!

Hi, Scott --

I do have plenty of brackets, still.  I made quite a few  ;D  And they should work perfectly with your clip-ons.  Let me know when you're close to ordering.  I have stainless ones ready, but for polished, I'll need a day or two to do the polishing - no biggie.

Cheers, buddy!

Chris,

Sorry for the delay in my reply.  One other question, will the bracket fit an F model triple clamp?  I failed to mention that I have a '75 F0.

Thanks!

Scott --

My current bracket will not fit an F-model triple.  I'm in the process of designing and producing some F-model specific brackets, thanks to some fellow forum members who were kind enough to share feedback and even ship me a bracket for prototyping  ;D  Check back with me soon, as I should have them before too long.

Cheers!

Finally got some time to shoot a short vid of the bike.  It looks better if you choose 480 resolution to view it.

Hello architect,
The bike looks great.  I have a question about your custom oil tank.  I'm currently building a custom tank for my build and I don't see any vent system on your oil tank.  So I'm wondering if you have one?  How is it designed if you do have a vent?

Thanks!

Thanks, buddy - I really appreciate the kind words.  It's funny.  I intended to eventually fit some kind of small mufflers for a slightly mitigated sounding 4-4 system.  But everytime I mention it to someone, they reaffirm how much they like the open pipes and say I should leave it.  So, for now, it stays loud  ;D

That is one of the weaknesses of this tank design.  Currently, I'n running pretty much unvented.  They do make a vented cap that has a small opening in it and a screw-in baffle to keep it from spitting oil everywhere: http://www.bungking.com/osc/product_info.php?cPath=49_51&products_id=121&osCsid=dbf13e94f011b4ab5a6510704b029065  But, I've been planning to build a new oil tank (version 3.0), so I haven't worried about it yet.  It's been running fine, thus far.

And on a sad note . . . . I'm sorry to report that last Monday, I was hit by a car while riding.  I've got some breaks and scrapes, and I'm fighting with insurance about the value of the bike.  But here's a few pics  :(

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement.  I will definitely rebuild my baby once the insurance shenannigans are concluded  ;D

Well, my story isn't very exciting or dramatic, but I'll tell you how it went down.  Our weather is finally getting nice, here in Houston, so, I rode my motorcycle to work last Monday, as I often do.  I was wearing my helmet (always do) and my leather jacket (luckily it was chilly that morning, it was my first time of the season to put it on).  Lunch time.  I rode to lunch, sat outside and had a lovely spinach salad.  About 1:30 I got on my bike to go back to work.  It's a normal busy street in the city (Montrose, between Richmond and W. Alabama): two lanes each direction and a center turning lane between them.  I was riding on the main street in the far right lane.  I made it about two blocks when a woman driving a Nissan Sentra decided to cross the street on one of the minor cross-streets.  She came from my left across four lanes and t-boned me from the side.  I flew off my bike, did some somersaults over her hood and landed on the pavement on the other side of her car, skidding to a hault on my left elbow.  Eight to ten bystanders descended immediately and an ambulance showed up shortly.  I was in the hospital until Thursday afternoon (4 days).  The damage:  crushed right wrist (repaired surgically with a plate and some screws), radial head fracture of my left elbow (no lifting allowed, but otherwise left to heal on its own), stitches in the left elbow and right shin and some decent bruises (entire right thigh and much of my left upper arm).  And my poor bike that I'm currently fighting about with insurance.

Insurance, after what I'm referring to as a "poor Google search" decided the value of my bike to be approximately $2k, and based on the repair estimate I have, they're trying to rule it a total-loss  >:(  As politely and professionally as possible, I informed them that their conclusion is unacceptable.  And so, the saga continues.

Opened your thread to see what new ideas you had, then saw the photos. :o  That really sucks.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Regarding insurance.  After hearing of similar 'value' problems others have had, I've decided to insure mine as a 'custom', with an agreed value appraisal.  That way there can be no 10 cents on the dollar offers if there is ever a problem.

When I insured mine with -------- they flat out asked me what it was worth because it was so old they didn't have a listing for it.  I told them mint condition ones go for 4 to 5k (not untrue) but also said mine wasn't that nice, we set its value at 3k.  Which considering that most of my bike is rattle can and almost no chrome remains... I could pick another up for around 800~1200 in the same shape I think.

Damn man so is your wrist gonna be ok?  I'd try and get the lady for pain and suffering there's gonna be a lot of rehab with that wrist.

+1 on the rehab.  I'm at 12 weeks and counting with a finger. ::)   However good meds, and attractive OT's do make it easier. ;)

Man I am SO sorry for you.  Funny thing is I was hit on my 75 just a couple of weeks ago but I was MUCH luckier...and the bracket you made me is fine.  Seriously #$%*ty I hop.  e your recovery is swift let us know if we can do anything to cheer you up while you recuperate.  I can think of a funny adult oriented coloring book that would be good fun to help you rehab your wrist!
